What are your thoughts on your truck? Did you own one after the redesign and get rid of it? Is your 2007-2009 model still running strong? Have you picked up one even newer? What are your impressions if so? Most importantly, are any of you 2007-2009 owners experiencing the same reliability that mid-late 90's Yota Owners were blessed with?

Not a Tundra, but my '95 4Runner is still running. I'm looking to pick up a new Tacoma sometime this year.

I own a 2000 4Runner myself. No complaints but I hear a small knock right now. With 210K miles+ right now, it's time to start considering what my next move will be. When I started looking, I was shocked to see that the 2007-2009 models of the Tundra were in the 15-17K range in price. My only worry is the mileage. I'd never pay that for a full-size American made truck. But Toyota makes me stop and pause. I'm interested in hearing feedback from folks who own them.

Last year I traded away an '08 with 160K miles. Bulletproof drivetrain but a rough riding SOB.

So with basic maintenance you're fairly pleased with the truck the past 25,000 miles or so? Any noticeable differences in ride, or engine reliability, etc? In other words, is there some reason other than wanting a newer truck that you're trading it in?

TIA

My dad had a '09 and now has a '13. I don't think he would own anything else.

Have a 07 Tundra with 86K miles and it has been awesome. The only thing that I would change about it would be the payload capacity. It is a little low for a truck that can tow 10K lbs.

I have a 2007 Tundra and it's in the shop right now. It was squealing all the time, especially when I accelerated.

I have a 2014 crew cab 4x4 - it is my 3rd Tundra - first was a 2002 v8 - put 235k on it no problems except a/c - second was a 2006 crew cab v8 240k on that one - 2002 had to change a/c compressor at 140k - no problems with the other two - Price Leblanc does my service - a little pricey but worth it.

Not much negative to report from people I know that have owned them.

This was the first gen where Toyota really nailed the 1/2 ton segment, IMO.

There was some grumbling over fuel economy, especially city MPG, but not that much worse than anyone else's 1/2 ton.

Not to hijack, but thinking about buying a used Tacoma, and if OP doesn't mind, any thoughts on these would be appreciated.

We have a '08 with ~190k miles. No problems. Just PM, oil changes, brakes, and I think we replaced the water pump because of a slow leak that was noticed...

great truck but trucks are all about what you use them for.

I used to work for a company in oil industry and we had over a 100 diesel mechanics. These guys pulled trailers and loaded their trucks with marine engine parts- lots of weight and payload.
On Safety day we used to look out and survey the parking lot- below are the ranking of trucks based on the number in the parking lot

1. Ford F150
2. Ford F250
3. Toyota Tundra
4. Chevy
5. Nissan Titan
5. Dodge ( mostly cummins diesel) very few hemi

Oddly the Tundra and Titans were mainly supervisor and sales managers- more interested in ride

Most mechanics drove Fords and Chevy

Bought '10 4x4 crew with 38K in '12. 96k now. Only changed oil, transmission fluid and tires. Not a single repair yet. Carfax only showed a tail light bulb from original owner.
