Because of your love of classic rock, I would also suggest you listen to:

The Sheepdogs - I Don't Know (similar to CCR)

Black Pistol Fire - You're Not the Only One

Umm. Music is probably stronger now than it has ever been. Thanks Internet.

I would have to say the late 90's.

While I disagree with the premise that music has declined, I do agree that pop music in the late 90s was, by and large, completely terrible. What an optimistic and encouraging start to a decade that ended up in total flames. Alt-rock and rap got real bad, real quick after starting the decade with stone cold classics that were beloved by fans, sold millions, and were critically adored. By the end of the decade, we had Limp Bizkit.

The 00s were a wonderful rally and a retreat back to the safety of the underground. While there was some great music being made across all genres, I do think it's a bit of a shame that they largely abandoned trying to reach a wide audience, leaving it to the lowest common denominator.

The monoculture is dead, and has been for a long time, but I do sort of miss it, even if I was always on its fringes anyway.

90's for sure. Would say earlier than later, but could be persuaded otherwise.

How is music on a decline?

There are so many great artists out today. Stop listening to what's on the radio. Spotify can be your biggest friend. And if you want some suggestions, give us what genres you like.

I feel like I've explained this so many times here. I'll just give a half arse attempt this time. Music didn't start to decline. You started to get old.
