I've said this all last year he could sit under Brees for a couple years.

If you are referring to Jameis I would say there are no legit NFL QBs in this class. If not, I do not know who could be one.

I do not want RG4. Hell to the no. Nor do I want JaMarcus Russell 2. (Winston). We are going all in on Brees last few years obviously so let's wait till next year or year after to draft a qb if we even go that route

Grayson, the kid from Colorado St throws an awesome deep ball. I like him a lot.

My vote would be him in the 3rd at the earliest. I don't think he'll make it there though.

I actually really like this kid. Comes from a pro-style system and can make all the throws. Had a little trouble getting over losing his bread and butter this year but was much-improved by the end of the season.

I'll give Petty one thing - He seems like a good kid. In addition to being system and raw - The dude is one hard hit away from trouble though. At least for the next year or so. I don't care if he passed all his physical tests at the combine.

90% of saints fans bitched about Brees when we signed him.

I trust Payton to get his successor to Brees. You guys know nothing. Now go finish your honey do list and let the Front office build is a team.

Stupid reasoning. Jeff Tedford qbs weren't very successful either. Until one was...

Given that Payton just threw a satchel charge into the locker room because Brees told him to, I seriously doubt QB is in our plans for the top half of this draft.

I'd rather him than Mariotta

He is Tony Romo but bigger and with a better ceiling IMO.

I am praying with everything I got that we take him.

Absolutely. Accurate, good arm, relatively mobile. He's also tough as hell and played through multiple injuries in college (aka Romo).

Give this guy three years under Payton and he will be a stud. He'll be our QB of the future or we'll flip him for a higher luck than we used to get him, guaranteed.

From what I'm seeing Bryce Petty killed it at his pro day, fwiw

ETA: Mayock said he is the most natural thrower in the draft but will have to sit a couple of years to fine tune his natural abilities. If we can get him in the third I would scoop him up. Maybe even the second if we nail our 13 and 31.

Yeah, because those other two Art Briles' quarterbacks have worked out so well in the NFL

Yeah that guy that was rookie of the year and was on his way to dominance until he got hurt.

And on point.

Brees doesn't want and will not ever "groom a heir". Many here need to remember this. Doesn't care and will not aid in anything that speeds his demotion or retirement. He has as much said so.

CSP knows this as well.

Agree with this. Petty is a replica of RG3. Geez

Have a good friend who is a huge Baylor fan. Said Petty will be a steal in 2-3 round for the right team. Saints were one he mentioned. Good D reading skills and has great touch on long balls.

It isn't about Brees training someone to be his predecessor. That isn't necessary but having someone like Brees for a young quarterback to observe & use as a learning tool cannot be underestimated. Brett Favre hated the fact the Packers drafted Aaron Rodgers. It made for a cold relationship between the two but Rodgers credits being able to watch Favre & how he prepared for games as reason for his success. In this video Rodgers even talks about how Brees has helped him along the way.
