He has the size.........all reports say he needs time to develop progressions......but he has the intelligence. Problem is he has been engrained as a 1 read qb with Baylor Offense.....

Likely could fall to that 31 spot now that we are stocking picks?

Yeah, because those other two Art Briles' quarterbacks have worked out so well in the NFL...

I want to downvote you, but because we've had a productive day today I'll spare you.

Could also be a guy like Garrett Grayson? I have to think we want a guy we can groom for 2-3 years.

if he falls to the 3rd, I think he's a must take.

Given that Payton just threw a satchel charge into the locker room because Brees told him to, I seriously doubt QB is in our plans for the top half of this draft.

He is a 3rd-4th rounder. He isn't getting picked anywhere close to 31.

This!
I wouldn't touch him until the 3rd, simple because we have more pressing needs for this year. If there is a quality QB still on the board in the 3rd or 4th I would grab him. Would be nice to go the Aaron Rogers route and have a guy in place to study under Brees for at least 2 years. If not this year, definitely next years draft.

I think if SP is convinced playing under Brees will work as per learning reads, I think he is the guy they draft, but NOT at 31, and hopefully not before R3.

At some point, they have to draft a young QB - time is running out. But they have so many other needs to fill starting positions.....

Sure, but there are 8 Bryce Pettys in every draft... meaning good smart athletes with great college careers that no one has any friggin idea whether or not they'll be any good in the NFL.

There's only 1 legit NFL QB in this draft and his name isn't Petty.

People are starting have a pretty good idea that these system QB's are fools gold.

wondering if Hundley has some interest? In the project mold but 3-4 years might fit. Could have some gadget/role player potential before then.

This. But the ones who are having trouble adjusting are the ones who are being throw into the fire right off the bat. I would not want to take a chance on a spread QB who would have to come in right away to play but no Saints fan should be afraid of taking Bryce Petty in the mid rounds. The situation is perfect for him to grow & develop without the pressures of having to start right away.

problem is, most QBs coming out are system guys. Mariotta might go 2nd, and we don't honestly know if he's any better than Petty. Hell, after watching Oregon lose to Ohio St, I'm not so sure the Titans don't stick with Mettenberger instead of drafting Mariotta...

We already have a project quarterback.

Heath Shuler was a huge bust...so we know Payton Manning is just a David Cutcliff creation.

Drew Brees (then Kyle Orton) only put up big numbers because Joe Tiller runs a spead offense in the BigX. They are system QBs.

Carson Palmer is a good NFL QB, so that Matt Leinert guy should be great. Wait, Palmer was good until injured, then Lienert sucked so Sanchez may be good?

You can't ever really tell how someone will be in the pros. You take the system into consideration, but you take the talent and everything else and see how it fits into what you do. That's what makes it work. That being said, I like Hundley, although his injury history scares me a little.
