At a roundtable discussion yesterday (my invitation must have been lost in the mail), US Men's National Team manager Jurgen Klinsmann said that Gedion Zelalem will come straight into the senior side once he receives clearance from FIFA.

quote:

Klinsmann did not throw any cold water on the latter, but said "[Zelalem] is already on the level where he can definitely play on the senior team." Also, interestingly enough, Klinsmann mentioned that Zelalem was "a special case" and that the USMNT had "put a lot, a lot of work [into him]."

Some meta soccer board action going on here with a link to a post by a SB poster. If the original article linked to the SB well goddamm we would have some inception type shite going on here.

I think we just need to realize he likely isn't going to be the next Ronaldo.

I like Julian a lot, and I think he brings something that only Landon and Clint really brought, and that being he isn't afraid to take on defenders with skill. He's young and raw, so he isn't going to always win or anything, but that's definitely something I've think we've lacked other than a couple of guys.

He's still got time and don't think Jurgen is going to give up on him.

I still get pissed every time I read a comment on ESPN or elsewhere talking shite about him and that his goal in the World Cup was lucky.

I'm excited about Zelalem, I don't think he's a Godsend or anything, but I think he will definitely bring some flair to the team offensively. Is there any chance he'll get through that paperwork before the Gold Cup?

The idea of Zelalem and Pulisic playing together down the road is exciting.

I watched the u17's play the other night and I was really disappointed that Pulisic was carrying a knock and didn't see the field. I'm yet to watch him in an actual game.
