David Hawthorne: Hawthorne took a pay cut of $1.25 million -- though it saves a total of $2 million against New Orleans' 2015 cap because of the way it was structured. Hawthorne received a $1.5 million signing bonus, a base salary of $1.19 million and a roster bonus of $560,000 (due this week). That's a total of $3.25 million, which is down from the $4.5 million he was scheduled to make.

His roster spot is now safe for the time being, and the Saints save $2 million against the cap. He also took a pay cut for 2016. Hawthorne, 30 in May, started 12 games last season, receiving plus marks from PFF for his run defense.

Wonder if Colston took a flat pay cut, or we're waiting for the "4mil signing bonus"

And he's a ginger too
Just messing with ya. Buried on page two already. Its trade Drew time. No time for scrub LB'ers.

$4.5 may have been his cash intake but he was on the cap for $6m. So this would save $2.75m if the $3.25m number is right.
I feel it could have been more but I'm okay with. Hopefully we still find a replacement, if not for this year then definitely for next year.

Still can't believe he dropped that pick 6 against the Ravens.
