Don't look now but we are only 2.5 games back of the Raptors from retaining our pick from the Asik trade. Assuming of course we can stay in at least the 8th spot in the West. A lot on the line these last 17 games!

Make the playoffs and have a better record than the 4 seed in the East.

So pretty much we need the 7th seed, atleast

Now I know we need Bulls and/or Wizards to lose

Well Dallas is 11 - 12 in their last 23 with a brutal upcoming schedule and we are down 4.5 games now so anything can happen

Thunder are three back in the loss column of the Mavs, Pelicans four. Mavs play the Clippers, Thunder and Grizzlies in the next seven days.

Do you REALLY want the 20th pick? There's a reason why HOU also protected it 20-30. It's because there usually isn't much NBA talent left at that point and 1st rd contracts are guaranteed. Just somethjng to think about / consider.

No we'd rather throw it away.

Absolutely. If we keep the pick this year, it's likely we'll keep the pick until it becomes future 2nds, so that lowers the acquisition cost of Asik. It also would be useful in trades, Anderson + 2015 1st should return more than just Anderson.

Think we actually need to be better than the 3rd seed in the East if we stay at the 8th seed in the West. We have to be top 11 overall. So basically we need to stay ahead of Okc, and pass the raptors, wizards, and bulls who are all less than 3 games ahead of us.

Exactly. And if we get the 20th pick we could more easily move up if there was a specific player we were targeting. Plus this draft seems relatively deep.

I wouldn't be THAT bummed if we didn't keep it

We could probably buy the 25th pick or some thing.

A 1st hasn't been sold under the new CBA because one of the new wrinkles was you now have a yearly limit of $3 million in cash considerations. It used to be a $3 million limit per trade. That means if you buy a pick you are tapped out for the entire year and if you needed to send even a few hundred thousand to make a trade go through you wouldn't be able to.

Oh haha well thanks for spelling that out for me. I feel like a scrub. Well then we are only 2.5 games out then of the raptors and we actually own the tiebreaker over them.

HOU protected it 20-30 because they wanted the pick this year. nothing is certain obviously but if Davis and the team continue this progress it is unlikely they'll convey it in the next 2 years

this was the year that the pick would be in the teens. so yes, we want the pick, for no other reason than HOU won't have it as an asset and we will
