Matt Womack signing with Alabama was 'punishment enough' for LSU, Les Miles says

I think we are the only school to have gotten caught is the better answer
Posted on 3/10/15 at 2:32 pm to jladne3
And the even better answer is that we are the only school to tattle on ourselves

In the manner that it was broken, yes.

And the Brad Wing taunting rule.
Tigers pop cherries without discrimination...

Bama put the Womack on us
Posted on 3/10/15 at 4:10 pm to jladne3
I was under the impression we turned ourselves in? With our Compliance Dept that would not shock me.

Of course not but per SEC rules and bylaws any and all new rules are applied to LSU first. We are used as the NCAA and conference guinea pig.

If BAMA broke it, it wouldn't be there fault.
Posted on 3/10/15 at 6:10 pm to blackjackjackson
YES!
Just like LSU the only school to break the punter-taunting on touchdown rule.
And LSU only school to break the player-landed-on-his-own-players-back-thus-negating-the-missed-Auburn-PAT rule (2006 I think?).
Jesus H Christ LSU get's hit with the strangest shite that is never enforced again.
We're the rule trailblazers.

If Bama broke the rule, they (the SEC overlords)would have penalized the team he signed with.

This was the SEC and the NCAA has to sign off on this but so far as not from what I read.

Maybe Bama is already punished.
Look at the OL we signed, instead of him.

Very good question. Certainly some other school has encountered this scenario

Yes and caught in a year where we are supposed to have a great recruiting class. We still will, but it seems very convenient.

You do realize Womack and crew were going to report LSU? Better to be out in front of it, especially considering who we were dealing with.

Was this confirmed?

To answer that you need
A) a list of all FAA signees which I'm sure the NCAA has
B) cross-reference that list to kids that didn't enroll in that school that had a signed FAA
C) What contact happened with the kids from (B) that normal rules prohibited.
Probably a fairly short list once you get to (B). And from what I understand most staffs were wary of the contradiction in the rules (if the kid flipped or didn't early enroll) so most did not take full advantage of the FAA contact rules. LSU was very wary, but thought Womack was worth the risk to walk off into it to keep the heat on him.
The kicker was not only did LSU take the risk and advantage of the FAA contact rules but did it with a Les Miles in-home I believe. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong please. That's something watched very closely.
Yes, there is a presumption that the Womack family was indeed going to make sure the NCAA knew there was a HC visit during a no-contact period. Many times the NCAA & the conference get notified any time there's an in-home, the fact that LSU lost their "cover" when the checkbox got unchecked isn't the Womack's problem I guess. Little tongue-in-cheek there.
History has shown that self-reporting is the way to go. Especially when LSU knew the issue, the risks, and that Womack not only might flip but not EE. I'm sure the compliance department reported it. The question is: did they report it to the NCAA who chose not to punish LSU and then the SEC did choose to? That I have a big issue with. There is some recent history with LSU v. SEC where the SEC chose to act when the NCAA didn't (T. Valentine).

The main thing that irritates the day living shite out of me is that LSU recruited 5 OL's in this 2015 class who are all significantly better than Womack. THey dont even need that mentally challenged looking kid at this point at all and he would never even see the field unless someone got injured.

How do people still think this is what the reason was?
It was not that he went to another school. It's that he didn't enroll early. I can't even imagine the tardstorm you people would have if we self reported and he actually did show up on campus.
