This is why I think Payton may be slightly tarded.

The New Orleans Saints have been quietly exploring a trade of edge rusher Junior Galette but have found no takers, according to Yahoo Sports reporter Rand Getlin.

You know who Galette is a frickload better than? Definitely 2012 Will Smith and probably 2009 Vilma.

The Lafayette Parish District Attorney's Office has dismissed a misdemeanor domestic abuse battery charge against New Orleans Saints defensive end Will Smith. Assistant District Attorney Janet Perrodin told The Advocate the charges were dismissed Monday after Smith completed dozens of hours of community service and participated in counseling.

Authorities announced their decision in court Wednesday. Vilma was arrested last month on a felony charge of resisting arrest with violence and misdemeanor counts of reckless driving and obstruction of justice. Prosecutors did not immediately give a reason for dropping the case.

Different times in the league. Had this legal situation with Galette happened pre-Ray Rice, it wouldn't have been news and would have only been front page news on nola the first time it was reported. But, with the potential of a 6 game suspension, it is now a HUGE issue.

Vilma was a very good player at that time. Junior is a very good player right now. You can make an argument as to which of the two is better, but you can't argue that Junior plays a FAR more important position.

Difference is: Their maturity on the field and inside the locker room. Most reports had Smith/Vilma as great leaders in the lockers. Most reports from inside I've heard had been the complete opposite for Galette. A lot of joking around and less seriousness than those other two.

Do you have connections? If not, please post one link indicating that Galette is a bad locker room guy.

The only locker room "controversy" I know of with JG was his saying that the Saints didn't miss the vets that they cut (Vilma/Smith, who were fricking awful at the time we cut them).

Give me another MLB who can cover slot receivers 30 yds down and be a great leader on and off the field over a 10 sack frick up any day.

A controversy easily avoided if he weren't so stupid.

connections meaning people that see how players act inside, yes.

connections that tell me deals going down regarding the team (i.e. trades, cuts, etc.), no.

You do know the same woman filled other charges that are actually more serious (but because of circumstance and time elapsed are only civil in nature) right? Then word came his boys got arrested drive his car with weed on them.

Payton has never liked dealing with that shite and it obviously ticked him off. Then there are comments that he made knocking the guys that did things the right way. You know that didn't sit well with him.

Fact of the matter is we have no takers so he'll be a Saint for another year or two.

Starting a team anew, 100% of GM's will take the very good RDE over the very good ILB.

Yeah, she basically said that JG and another Saints player drugged and ganged raped her, yet she ended up willingly returning to his place for some reason when the arrest happened.

Probably so, but two of my previous links said that he dealt with it and kept the "problem players" on his team.

I've thought about this and personally I'd take a guy like Ray Lewis over a guy like Reggie White. No knock on White but that piece in the middle is huge. He is literally the centerpiece on defense.

That's why despite having some competent pass rusher, we were better overall with Vilma than with Lofton (and Lofton has had the better pass rush for the most part).

Problem players, but less incidents than Galette. Every offseason seems to be something stupid coming from him.

Why do you think we cut Morgan and Fortt? It wasn't because a lack of talent (esp. Fortt who looked damn good).

Vilma/Smith: everyone and their mom reports them as good locker room leaders
Galette: no one says that

Less than one?

I don't recall ever cutting Morgan. If we did, it was because he was a limited talent one trick pony with little production and off the field issues. As for Fortt, I'd imagine that it was because he sucked.

Cool. 100% of me says if it's Vilma in his prime vs Gallete in his, give me Vilma without a 2nd thought.

If you would take Galette over Vilma in their primes, you may be slightly retarded. I don't care what position they play.

Vilma makes an entire defense better, galette not so much. Period.

How do you know this? Galette was by far our best pass rusher over the past two seasons. You seriously think that if you remove JG from our 2013/2014 D's, we don't get worse?
