I am waiting at least 2 more weeks, regardless of rain. I am starting to get a tiny bit of green up, but not enough quite yet.

Time to weed, apply weed free zone or similar

Wait to feed till after green up and use a variety specific fertlizer

The two functions should be done separately, avoid the weed n feed combos

I weed when flowers start showing on dandelions, white clover, and another weed I cant identify but has small purple flowers. That was this week so I did a weed application yesterday. I suspect with the amount of rain we had last week and sun we are getting this weekend, weeding next weekend might be too late for best application.

How do yall apply weed treatment? Do yall by granules of some kind and use a spreader? Some kind of liquid in a pump sprayer? Liquid injected into sprinkler system? I need to do this today.

I use liquid, either hose end sprayer or mix and spray with garden pump sprayer

I tried corn gluten meal last year and it worked great. I'm done with chemicals as they just bring on more problems. Switched to organic fertilizer w bat guano and had the best lawn I very ever had. St Augustine came back strong and no bugs or
Brown patches.

I was planning on putting out weed-and-feed this afternoon or sometime this week before it rains. Am I too early?

I'd be using Scott's turf builder bonus S-southern weed and feed. St Augustine grass in Birmingham

I think I'm going to spread Bonus S today also. My grass is already starting to turn green.

Did the whole yard in speedzone yesterday morning I'm already seeing some wilting. Will spray pen-d in a few weeks to take care of Poa and other grasses.

My 2 cents... Be careful with Bonus S and read all labels before buying. A lot of the weed preventers are harmful to trees and other bushes that have roots in the area. I dont use Bonus S because Ive got several large trees and crepe myrtles.

I think it is best to use a spreader and I find results are better(and some bags recommend) spreading early morning while dew is still on grass which makes some granules stick to weeds. Allow several days before a rain to allow several cycles of dew falling so granules get wet but do not wash off with rain. Also do not cut the grass for ~3 days.
