Talking about in their prime, how would a conglomeration of LSU's top players in history compete in today's NBA?

The historic top 5. Not sure that they would all start over some of the backups. Where do you put Petit, for example, in today's NBA? Do you start him over a Brandon Bass or Glen Davis at PF?

C Shaquille O'Neal
F Bob Pettit
F Rudy Macklin
G Chris Jackson
G Pete Maravich

F Glen Davis
F Brandon Bass
F Stromile Swift
F John Williams
G Howard Carter
G Randy Livingston (minus knee injuries)
G Ronnie Henderson
G Marcus Thornton
C Stanley Roberts
C Geert Hamminck

15 players.

You can add/subtract players at will. I was looking for a balanced lineup with backups at each position. Guys like Ricky Blanton and Don Redden were great at LSU, but I don't know what they add to a pro team. Derrick Taylor might be my favorite PG that I've ever seen at LSU, but I'm not sure he adds anything either. Nor does a Darrel Mitchell or Tyrus Thomas, necessarily.

Thoughts? How would this team do if you look at what we know as their best years and put them together on an NBA team today?

I thought this was the right board because I am wanting more of an NBA discussion than just an LSU discussion. Almost all of those players played in the NBA at some point.

If I put this on the Rant I am not getting the NBA insight.

A thread about Kentucky got me thinking about this.

You have 3 HOFers including arguably the best player ever, of course they are winning a title

Well, everyone says that today's NBA is so much better than play in the 80s or 90s so I was wondering.

Shaq would obviously dominate today.
Maravich would be great no matter when he played.
Never saw Petit so I don't know.
Chris Jackson was great in college and good in the NBA, but he wasn't a great PG and at 6'0 was too small for SG.

The bench would be good but were a bunch of role players in the NBA.

I think it would be a great team still, but was wondering how they might compare to the great teams today.

Only because he was a 6'9" white guy who played in the 50's. I never saw him play. I know he was great for his time but I don't know how he would stack up now.

I am talking about how these guys would fare if they were all playing together today.

Championship but they wouldn't go 82-0 like some other schools' dream teams... maybe at best 65-70 wins in a season

You would have 3 of the NBA all 50 team surrounded by a dozen NBA guys who had various degrees of mediocre careers. IMO at worst you would be a host a the first round, even better in the East

I'll say it. Steph Curry is twice the player that Maravich was. The game has changed that much in my opinion.
