Shite is biggest scam ever. My house will never ever flood and yet I pay nearly a grand a year on flood insurance. And even if it does flood...in a case such as that Ill go ahead and pay the repair cost.

Suggestions anyone?

Don't wanna move and not close to paying off house. I know those are the 2 easiest answers.

If you're in a flood zone, I think you are required to have flood insurance.

I'm guessing lenders requirements?

Rent
pay cash
post a bond

That's all I have

Or else the bank will buy it for you, which you definitely don't want

There's a perfect storm of grandfathering, subdividing, and elevation that could get your premium lower, but it's a stretch. You're stuck with the flood insurance.

2" of water in most homes will cost 10's of thousands to repair. 1' of water is much more than that.

If he is paying $1k a year, he is low, relative to the BFE. I am in flood zone A but a high elevation and only pay $350 a year for max coverage...

Lot's of people in NOLA were super happy it was mandatory thru certain lenders to have it. I dropped mine when it was paid off. If I flood, NOLA ain't coming back.

Well pay off your mortgage and "take your chance", just don't expect the person holding the value of the property you are living on to "take the chance" for you
