You should have had your seatbelt on and that would not have happened.

This was before seat belt laws. I was 18 and in college. No one wore seat belts

I am gonna call BS. The law was enforced in Sept. 1985. Don't think you were 18 in 1985

My mom bumped a woman at a red light who is a "Christian" woman in the Catholic diocese here. No damage at all to the cars... This scumbag hypocrite sued for policy limit and forced my mom through depositions and unnecessary stress. Total bullshite and I sincerely hope karma comes and deals with her.

I settled out of court within their limits. I refused to sue him personally.

As for why they wouldn't pay, they said they wouldn't until the entire thing was settled. Only problem was I had to continue seeing the doctors for months afterward and I had no idea when I would be released from the doctors.

The insurance company offered only $1,000 to settle but my bills were well over that by then. They said they'd give an extra $1,000 for future medical expenses but I wasn't dumb enough to accept that. I tried negotiating to just pay my bills and throw in $5,000 and I'd call it a day, thinking $5,000 would be enough. They refused so I got a lawyer and ended up getting $30,000.
What an idiot adjuster...

You'd be amazed at the amount of people who come in to my office with a similar story.

I was hit last year by a drunk head on at 5pm. I was sore and went to a chiro for a few weeks. Got 16k for "injuries" and they gave me 12K for for an 08 Ford Fusion that was paid off and had 110k miles.

If you got one of those TV shysters you almost certainly under settled your case.
So that may be of some consolation to you.

So you don't think there needs to be some reform?

Aren't the insurance commissioners in Louisiana notoriously corrupt?

The best reform of the legal system would be if we stopped electing judges.

I can see that.

Don't know if it's true but I was told that in some states in the south like MS you don't even need a HS diploma to be elected to Chancery or maybe County Courts. Or some Judiciary.

My wife was rear ended real bad (no joke intended). Her back and neck was jacked up, and miscarried.(we was early in pregnancy). And my car was totaled.

She needed physical therapy. And she was mentally messed up for a while with the miscarriage.

The person who hit her was driving a commercial vehicle.

We got a little bit of change from the lawsuit, but not a whole a lot. But it did help tho
