Based on that competition with the current player/old guy/WNBA player, I think Chris Bosh could somewhere b/w 4-7 out of 20

A couple of things...

First, there is a HUGE difference in shooting half court shots in a gymnasium with a wall behind the goal. All that practice won't translate to shooting a half court shot in an arena with stadium type seating behind the goal.

You don't realize it but it completely screws with your depth perception.

To answer the question, if the prison was like politician prison and not pound me in the arse prison, then yes I would do it.

Interesting take to be certain about doing it but not certain about making 1 outta 20.

I got kids, I can't do it. When I was younger and had less responsibilities and routinely would play hoops and shoot half court shots, I'd probably do it and would be confident I could win(of course that doesn't factor the pressure factor)...only thing is i'm really not cut out for the jail life.

I'd sell part of my upside to cap the downside. For instance, I'd strike a deal with a bettor for an even split if I made it: $10mil to me, $10mil to the bettor. If I missed, I'd get $1.5mil transferred from the bettor and then spend 2 years in prison
You can't cheat the hypothetical, c'mon!

It's the MSB, everyone is super, awesomely athletic.

I'm shooting. We use to shoot random shots after practice every day. I've made so many half court shots just because I've attempted so many

Shooting. Half court shots aren't that difficult to make. The most intimidating factor would be the crowd imo.

If you had the chance to make one half court shot out of twenty attempts and win $20 million dollars or miss all 20 and spend 2 years in prison, would you do it? What says the MSB?

I would take that chance pretty confidently.

Sure, I'd be kinda nervous, but half-court shots aren't hard at all. If the limit was 10 shots, I'd have to seriously consider it at that point. But 20 is an awful lot of tries.

Yup. I realized this when we had to play intramural finals in the PMAC with the bleachers pulled in.

Great hypothetical, BUT there are lots of variables.

What kind of prison? I assume PMITA prison.
Am I rushed to take the shots? I assume so by TV.
Is there an arena full of people or just me in the gym with a couple witnesses? I assume so.

Assuming those things I would.

But I would only if I could practice A LOT before in an arena daily for months.

ETA:

My YES response is mainly because I wouldn't receive a criminal charge so my post-prison employment wouldn't be that harmed. Plus, you'd probably get famous, make some interview/book money while the government pays for your room and board for 2 years.

It is. And I'd aim for the square each time I think.

People really overplay the arse rape threat. Its pretty rare these days if you're not a kiddy rapist/regular rapist and damn near extinct in a lot of facilities.

If you pay for people's merch that are respected in the walls you won't have issues with any violence.

ETA:

People watch Oz and American History X too much

The public knowing about it has forced facilities to address the problem.

What if instead of 2 years in prison the penalty is immediate death by ISIS in whatever way they see fit?

Would you still attempt it?

I don't believe you for the main reason that he wouldn't admit it.

And if he did, that sucks, but he probably could have prevented it. And if he did, he is the exception not the rule.

When did this occur?

Don't really care if you believe me or not. And he didn't admit to it, FWIW.

Hmmmm, not necessarily. Mississippi is under investigation by the DOJ for not reporting sexual assaults. Their defense has literally been "Oh, you were asking for it and probably liked it." And I believe sexual assault in prisons are on the rise.
