Premium material so I can't link the whole article, but here's who he has the Saints selecting:

quote:

13: Brandon Scherff, New Orleans Saints (7-9)

COLLEGE: Iowa
Class: Sr
HT: 6-4
WT: 319
POS: OT

Analysis: The Saints could end up cutting one of their guards and couldn't do any better in adding a replacement in the draft if Scherff is still available here. I've said before I see Scherff as a high-floor addition on the offensive line, because even if he doesn't stay at tackle I think he can become a dominant guard pretty early on. The player isn't a facsimile, but you can make a comparison to how Dallas drafted Zack Martin and moved him inside as a rookie and saw him flourish; I think the Saints can count on immediate dividends from Scherff. He's one of the more dominant run-blocking linemen we've seen in the draft in the past few years, and he brings experience and the ability to take on the job like a professional right away.

Would be a popular pick I think. As long as the two QB's go ahead of us we should be able to land a high quality O lineman or OLB/DE at 13.

The 6-5, 319-pound road grader is a premier run blocker who plays with an aggressive edge. A tough as nails lineman who plays with a nasty mean streak on the field, the Iowa product has the type of game that is currently all the rage in the NFL. Scherff excels with a powerful initial punch and thrives at driving defenders off the line of scrimmage. A tremendous leader, he was named to the Hawkeye’s Leadership Group as a redshirt freshman and was a member of that committee each season.

Would love this. Instant contributor where we need it most on the interior O-Line with the possibility of moving outside in a couple years to replace Strief and give us two rock solid bookends along with Armstead.

As for some locals projected in the 1st round, Kiper has:

Lael Collins going at #16 to Houston

Jalen Collins going at #20 to Philadelphia

Landon Collins going at #22 Pittsburg

I still think Collins is a better over-all talent than Scherff.

He might be, but most people view scherff as the higher floor.

In some ways I agree, I think Collins plays with more determination and passion. Both are going to be prime lineman for a long time in this league and hopefully one of them does so wearing black and gold.

I don't think he falls to s at 13. We probably would have had a shot at 8 or 9 though.

I want him even more than a pass rusher. If we can build a dominant interior offensive line like we had in 2011 I will FAP.

But I still think Scherff will go to the Giants

Hopefully Pierre-Paul leaves them in FA and they are forced to get a pass rusher.
