Hawaii chartered two for the sugar bowl when they played. My grandmother said back in the day 747's would fly into MSY. The runway is plenty long enough as air force one has landed there before.

Been there. Orient Beach was underwhelming to say the least - unless you are over 60 then party on.

We're not doubting that 747s can land at MSY. Just saying there is currently no regular service.

Ive been there and watching planes come in and land was pretty cool sight. Would recommend St Maarten as a vacation spot.

Yeah, doesn't interest me.

Going to St. Barths for a day trip on Tuesday and Anguilla on Thursday. We are getting 8 inches of snow today so I cannot wait for my flight tomorrow afternoon out of here. It's supposed to be 4 degrees when we fly out.

At one time, MSY was designated as an alternate landing site for the space shuttle orbiter. If the weather or other factors closed Cape Kennedy and Edwards AFB, MSY was on the list.

The Concorde also landed here at least once in the mid-80s. People were parked all along the fence line to watch it land. I don't think Homeland Security would have liked that very much.

Yeah, 1985. Parrish Travel charted an Air France Concorde to fly from MSY-CDG.

Can you travel between the Dutch and French side with ease? Need a passport?

There’s no border patrol, customs, or fences between the two

I think we only have International to Mexico, the Caribbean and Canada.
New Orleans does not have any commercial international flights only available for purchase at this time.

Vacation Express offers a seasonal vacation package with non stop service to Punta Cana one day per week and 2-3 per week to Cancun. Both on 737s.

I've been. It's a pretty cool beach to sit on and hang out for a day. Constant entertainment.

St. Maarten’s Princess Juliana International Airport lived up to its illustrious reputation Tuesday, when a KLM aircraft damaged at least 17 vehicles parked alongside the beachside runway. KLM flight 785 had come in from Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, and was fully booked, according to a spokesman for the airline.

The pressure coming from the engines of the KLM Boeing 747 caused a jet blast that blew out windshields and windows of the parked vehicles. Landings are usually safe, but according to the island’s The Daily Herald newspaper, after touchdown the KLM aircraft made a left turn at the eastern end of the runway, instead of a right turn.

Damaged vehicles are believed to belong to patrons of a nearby hotel and beach bar.

When asked about the cause of the incident, the spokesman said, “There is an investigation and until the results are published I can’t say anything about it.” Local airport authorities are in charge of the investigation, he said.
