My son is ruining the education of others? More like everyone else is holding him back.

On the end of year standardized exam, a 60 passes. A 110 means mastery. Lil man scored over 300, 150 points higher than anyone else tested.

Whose education is lacking?

I was born in 61'.

Kids that were impulsive and interrupted in class were "rambunchio)s"(sp} and "full of mischief".

They didn't give drugs for that.

My add kids went to the gym, played soccer and ran track. Only took meds for tests (made a ten point difference for my kids ACT score 20s to 30s)

Zombie pill? My son was on it for a while and he didn't turn into some zombie acting child. I think the OP and others have fallen victim to social media and just has to act like a wise arse. When I was a young, we didn't have social media. I wish those days would come back.

Parents, the next time some teacher or doctor tries to tell you that you should give your kids a zombie pill, refuse.

Or how about they do what they think is best for their kid?

Private schools will document behavior and throw you out if they feel like you are sidestepping a fix.

Yeah I mean if some people want to be able to shove a pill down their throat instead of raising their kids... so be it.

You hit the nail on the head with the "lazy" description. I graduated HS 23 years ago and no one + or - 5 years of my age took any meds like this because parenting was the medication. Parents are too lazy to parent and just slam some meds down their childs throat.
It's good to know some other people out there understand. Any child/person can be trained to act right; it just takes more work with some kids than others.

What ab the kids who show no behavioral signs, but only finish a few questions On a test bc they can't concentrate? Should they be beaten too?

I was prescribed Ritalin in middle school. I didn't notice any real difference. I think my grade issues had nothing to do with not being able to pay attention, because the coursework was easy (and I had tested into the gifted classes, so learning wasn't an issue). Not to say I didn't have attention problems, I did, but I was just lazy when it came to take home work. I never did homework, reports, or projects. My parents realized that and asked if I wanted to get off of it when I went to high school, so I did.

Fast forward to my sophomore year of college and I started in my core engineering classes. I could not sit through an hour and a half class to save my life. My roommate had an Adderall prescription. I tried it, and it blew my mind. I honestly enjoyed reading my text books, and would have the most organized notes when I took it. I was getting perfect papers on Thermo and Fluids tests. I can't imagine what I could have achieved if I had been prescribed it starting in high school. I'm positive I would have had a 4.0 and scholarships.

But damned if it wasn't a toll on you. I'm absolutely in the camp that it's not healthy to take every day. If they find something that doesn't burn your candle at both ends, but still provides that focus, I will be first in line with cash in hand.

It's a made up issue to not have to parent.

It's easier than fighting an education system that is completely built to work in the opposite way your kid needs.

ETA: This is not an excuse btw, just a reason. I was on ADHD medication until I begged my parents to take me off as a teenager. My oldest was on ADHD medication for 9 months, against my wishes. I'm glad his mom saw the light and took him off. He did perform much better in class those 9 months though.

There is nothing wrong with active, impulsive, intelligent children. Stop letting the schools tell you different.

PREACH

Though I would add, even if they aren't intelligent, there's nothing wrong with that either. Everyone has their strength. We need to help kids become the best version of themselves and not try to force them to be something they are not.

Your kids had an unfair advantage on tests because they were on PEDs. That is a factual statement.

Are you saying that if you had a kid that knew the material but was getting c'a bc he couldn't concentrate, you wouldn't give him a pill that allowed him to get a's?

This is why parents give in.
