If you had a voice that was 90%+ on par with Dax Riggs (Acid Bath)..would you?

Join an acid bath cover band of seasoned musicians, or continue with your own work that you've been putting your every fiber of being into? Your own "baby", so to speak.
I mean, if were 22 again, it would be an easier decision that could possibly be parlayed into something. But a man, in my opinion, should be admired for his OWN songs. It's a gimmick that if done right, you get a drnk raised from nostalgic purposes.
It's a dilemma, I've been contemplating for a few weeks now.

I'm working on a concept album under my own project. It's taking longer than expected, uunfortunately. When I work I focus on what is important to me and I guess what is "pure" in the process. Outside interference would more than likely disrupt that because these guys will want to constantly rehearse, etc.
And its not like we all live in the same city so it would be an inconvenience.
On the other hand, I loved acid bath, and since you can't hear them live anymore it would be nostalgic fun.the way I'm leaaning is, let well enough be. But I hate to let the guys down because they are great musicians just wanting to do the best justice they can (and they're legit) for music they love.
Maybe the timing just isn't right.

It's basically art vs. experience. There's a certain personal satisfaction from creating one's own music.
Being in a cover band can be fun, can give you a regular income, and will provide experience that will broaden your musical skills.
Why don't you do both?

Follow your heart brother. As a musician myself, nothing can compare to the feeling of creating, nurturing, and expressing my own ideas into music. It's really a therapeutic process for me, and the satisfaction obtained could never be felt from playing other people's tunes.
That being said, Acid Bath are legends, and I'm sure it would be fun jamming those great songs. I was lucky enough to be close to Sammy at that time, and got to spend many nights back stage with those guys.

Funny enough, I'm seeing Dax this Saturday in Houston.

Dax is the only thing holding up the Acid Bath reunion (sans Audie)
He would never go back to that, I'm friends with him.
It got him to where he is now and he is very confortable in his own skin.
I'm seeing him in Longview in a few weeks.

Funny you mention this as I just purchased "When the kite string pops" and "Paegan terrorism tactics" on vinyl last weekend.

Can you push the message through to Dax to release his back catalog on vinyl? Deadboy, Agents of Oblivion and his newest, Say Goodnight to the World.
Also, when's his new album getting released?

I'll talk to him about that but fat possom records only owns his post agents stuff, the deadboy albums are all rebranded as Dax Riggs. Rotten Records still retains all acid bath/ agents stuff and Rotten Ron is a dickhead.
The new album is due in the summer he's got a lot of material to use. He's just searching for the right studio musicians. Right now it's just him and (funny how things work) Lucas Broussard who played in the lineup with Shane (RIP) , Wynn, and Nikki Rhodes Jr briefly before he got with Tess for the We Are Night Sky album.
Him and Lucas have been performing shows together lately and they are coming back to the Spanish Moon in April, really a great show.
Anyway, I'll pass it along.

Yeah, it's a damn tragedy what happened with Audie, and to his family.
Never met Rotten but was advised to stay away when I was a late teenager as he had no true business sense.
Sammy's work in Goatwhore has been great. Wish him and Dax would work together again, if not an "acid bath reunion", then something else.

Sammy confirmed he was jamming with the other Acid Bath guys and planning on doing some sort of Acid Bath tribute eventually. I assume it would just be a one off show somewhere, hopefully New Orleans but probably Austin. No idea on singer.

Well, if that's true I'd get on board with that.
