blocking out on the offensive and defensive boards...something we learn when we 1st started basketball at a very early age...i've never seen so many teams drive inside to get easy layups on any LSU basketball team ever.....

Lack of effort. Defense and rebounding are nothing more than effort. Martin and Mickey should be absolutely embarassed today. Although, they should have been embarassed after mizzou, Auburn, texas a&m, among others. however, these cats do not get it. if you are n.b.a. player, there are no nights off. if you can't handle 6 ft 5 guys, how you going to handle 7 ft guys every night. The answer, you are not.

You want to see effort night in, night out? look at hornesby. Probably the least athletic guy on the team. however the most consistant guy on the team.

half court offense.

I do not see crisp passing to, and among, moving guys.

again, effort. lazy passing, no movement. They have better passing, driving, and movement against good teams.

This team is inconsistant because their effort is inconsistant. The two big guys get handle by smaller guys on the consistant basis. this pisses me off more than anything. if they worked as hard as the smaller guy, this team would be as good as any in the country. however, they are lazy to many times

Hornsby is not even close to the "least athletic" guy on the team. In fact, he might be the most athletic guy on the team. He only gets thought of as a lesser athlete because he is white.

That said, he busts his arse on both sides of the ball night in and night out and stands out especially on offense because he is the one guy who is constantly moving away from the ball to try to get himself open for a shot. Everything else on offense (in the halfcourt) is simply just a bunch of guys standing around with no clear direction. Ball screens are just kind of set randomly with no urgency. Once the screen is set 75% of the time the screener just turns and looks. No dive to the basket, no pop out for an open look. Nothing. It's like everyone is just watching to see when someone else will make a play.

The one I have been bitching about for 3 years, and all came on board this year as it reared its ugly head over and over- Inbounding the basketball, especially in crunch time

Effort. When we play a mediocre or bad team it is obvious we think our talent alone is going to win the game. We have a team that can play with any other team in college ball. THIS YEAR. But, we can lose to almost anyone too. Just the reality of it. I'll say this......If I'm a highly ranked seed in the NCAA tourny, I wouldn't want to see LSU in the second round.

A lot of the rebounds (Offesive) aren't from not boxing out but rather just being lazy and not hustling to the ball. Most of the O rebounds are caught away from the basket. Some are from lack of boxing out but you have to be aggresive not just box out and that's where they lack. They need another year imo and will still play Arky hard and may beat them. If we beat Arky and win a couple games in the SEC T we in for sure. They sure made it hard for themselves though. Still not over

ok, a little exageration. The least athletic of the starters. how's that? Darcy Malone may be the least atheletic him or odo. has nothing to do about black or white. The other players, TQ, Martin, Mickey, etc are athletic. patterson may not be all that athletic, he's more of a smooth player. haven't seen him jump, glide, etc.

With that said, i don't see hornsby as a athletic freak. I don't see him as an unathletic cluts, either. I see him as a guy who is out hustling everyone to get his stats. If the other players played with his energy night in and night out, this would be a top 10 to 5 team.

Wrap your brain around this, Hornsby had 4 rebounds last night and J Martin had 5. Who's the more athletic guy? Who's the bigger guy? How does that happen? I'm not even going into tennesse's team that a number of guys aroun 6ft 5 in out rebound these guys.

Not to pick up your dribble when there is no one to pass the ball to. And especially not to pick it up in the corner.

That's where i was going with mine. That crap pisses me off the get past half court and pickup dribble in the corner at least 5 times per game to get trapped.

poorly coached on how to BOX OUT

Literally anyone can coach someone how to box out. The players not doing it is about effort, not coaching. Our fans need to understand that. They know HOW to box out, they just don't expend the effort to do so consistently.

The thing that irks me the most is something I noticed the first game vs Gardner-Webb and it has gone on all season....and that is the ability of other teams to just drive right down the gut of the lane and get easy layups. How many times did Tennessee do that last night, especially in the second half? The guards don't keep the other team's guards from getting into the lane and our bigs don't protect the rim. I've mellowed into my middle age years and games that kids play don't work me up like they used to, but last night the constant penetration and easy shots drew some f-bombs and wtf's as I watched that crap.

All of the above and I will throw in M&M being unable to finish under the boards. What is up with that?
