quote:

So who will the Eagles turn to at running back after they’ve traded away LeSean McCoy? One option could be soon-to-be free agent Mark Ingram.

Ingram, who becomes a free agent when his rookie contract with the Saints expires on Tuesday, appears to be on the Eagles’ radar. Lyons Yellin of WWL-TV has heard rumblings about the Eagles being interested in Ingram, whose straight-ahead running style may be more to Chip Kelly’s liking.

If the Eagles were to sign Ingram, it would be the second straight season that they took a running back from New Orleans. Last year they acquired Darren Sproles in a trade with the Saints.

The Saints, however, don’t want Ingram to go, and coach Sean Payton has identified Ingram as a player he’d like to keep. That’s easier said than done because the Saints simply don’t have much cap space, and the Eagles have a lot of cap space. If it’s a matter of money, the Eagles can pay Ingram a lot more than the Saints can.

A lot of teams can pay more. That doesn't mean they will. It would take someone going out of market price to price us out completely($6+ mil).

The biggest issue is whether and how much he wants to be here. That will determine if we are in or out from the start.

let them have him. after that contract he is going to be fat and happy like he was his first couple of years and back to 2 yards and a cloud of dust.

Depends on how many total FAs we lose and how many we sign (not counting cut players or untendered RFAs).

And it would be next year we'd get it. June 1st is the cut off date for determining comp picks.

Yeah that's why Loomis said we waited to sign Goodwin last year.

So if it says we're owed one this year then that is set. My guess is it won't be a high pick based on who we lost and gained.

It's going to be from a year ago. You get comp picks a year later because the period to determine them runs past that year's draft. So based on last year's FA period we are owed one pick this year. We won't know what we're owed next year until June 1st this year.

plenty of RB's will be available in the draft that are every bit as good as Ingram and can be acquired with a mid to late round pick and for way less money. Josh Robinson, Terrance Magee, Cameron Artis-Payne, Malcolm Brown. We could even get a much better back if we want to burn a 2nd or 3rd round pick and still pay no where near what Ingram is going to want if someone is actually going to pay him. Also plenty of the other second tier free agents RB's that we could look at. Hopefully the Eagles have a big interest in him and we don't get duped into overpaying for him.

We better not pay him 5.7 million, that would be a horrible signing. I don't know if any running back is worth that on a Sean Peyton team.
