Dude, they were showering LSU with praise in that segment and calling it among the most elite jobs in the country.

Guy completely misheard them.. Both said LSU should be ranked higher due to the fact they don't have a rival instate school to compete with such as Bama-Auburn UGA-GT Florida-FSU

Those stats mean nothing. LSU is about championships now and Les Miles gets a pass. Like I said LSU should be #1. A coach hasn't been fired in 15 years

I guess that'w why Michigan and Georgia have competed for so many national championships in the last 10 to 15 years.

Florida doesn't even have an indoor practice facility.

There is a lot of butthurt in this thread because someone said LSU isn't the greatest at everything.

Scott Van Pelt Show

A state with barely 4 million (may be less)people produces a lot of talent. Most SEC schools and other conferences spend a lot of time recruiting LA. Alabama has 6 million people (at least) and Georgia has even more. Per capita, Louisiana produces more talent than the afore mentioned states.

-Louisiana has 4.5 million people.
-Louisiana, on a PER CAPITA basis (that is, figuring how many blue chip recruits come out as compared to state population) is near the top in the entire country every year.
Neither Georgia, nor (esp.) Alabama can TOUCH Louisiana for per capita blue chip recruits.

Why do you think Louisiana is bombarded with visits from coaches all over the country.

Rusillo is no idiot. I suspect he meant to say Florida rather than Alabama as anyone who follows recruiting knows that La kills Alabama in numbers and percentages of FB recruits. The facilities comments are correct.

No. There is butthurt because it's SVP and Russillo being misrepresented by the OP. Those 2 practically bleed PNG. They talk about LSU way more than they should and love getting to come down for Gamedays etc.

Per capita doesn't mean anything in regards to recruiting...it's just a stat that makes Louisiana folks feel good about our state...
Georgia can have 100 more blue chip recruits than Louisiana and we can still have a better per capita number...it doesn't mean Louisiana is a better state for recruiting.
We greatly benefit from not having in state competition but that is different from talking about how good a state is with recruits.

Arguably? Do you follow recruiting? Alabama doesn't compare to La in high school talent or prospects.

Huh? Were we listening to the same show? They actually made it a point to say the only thing they would change about the top 5 was put LSU in and take Florida out. They both agreed that LSU needs to be in the top 5. I'm amazed at how wrong you are about what they said.

LSU does invest in better facilities, but the fact that they were ahead of the curve has cost them in ranking recently. LSU was one of the first in the country to build a football ops center. When it was completed, it was top in the country. Since then most other schools have built one that now ranks ahead of them. Same with the baseball stadium. On the other side of the coin, LSU is one of the last to build an indoor tennis facility. Hopefully when it is done, it will rank at the top.
