Banks offering CDs with 1+ % interest rates .. rates going up?

I've noticed an increase in banks advertising certificate of deposits with rates > 1%, multiple year terms.

Could this be indicative that they believe rates will go up some time this year?

I think everyone is sure that they are, be it in June or near the end of year...

Sleepy chick said as much in the last Fed meeting..

Some of those I've seen have been "teaser" rates where it's only 1% on the first $1k deposited. Make sure you read fine print on anything that looks too good to be true.

Also I posted in another thread, look at the Barclay's savings accounts offerings.

No fee, no minimum, free unlimited transfers and 1% APY. It's pretty much the best out there.

Same with GE Capital Bank online savings acct - 1.05% apy.
