Let's say the schedule makers would have made us lose to UK twice vs the one loss, would the rpi be better?

does that include the SEC tourney? Is it better for us to play them and lose, or win a couple extra games?

If we are in 4th place we will have to win 1 game then play Kentucky.

If we are 5th place we will play two games then Kentucky.

Either way, we want another shot at Kentucky. The 4th place route would be much better. I'd feel bad about our chances if we played UK as a 3rd game in 3 days.

If we get to Kentucky I think we are in no matter if we win or lose.

Oh yea, I hope to not be worrying at all by that point. Just noting that we would get an RPI boost from losing to UK (stupid and why I hate RPI).

your original post is the exact reason why I despise the RPI. teams are awarded for losing 2 Elite squads.

I thought the very same thing while watching the Georgia game last night. That playing Kentucky twice would give Georgia an RPI boost. that is so stupid

And an even better resume with one win vs UK.

Dang those last 3 scoreless minutes. :sob:

All I know Arkansas is very beatable. Kentucky embarrassed them and they got massacred at home by Ole Miss. We can definitely close the regular season 23-8 and head into the SECT knowing even if we go 1-1 we'll still have single digit losses. Tourney lock.

Assuming this means regular season, and that we would go to Rupp instead of somewhere else, then probably so. If you replace a game at MSU or Mizzou with a trip to Lexington, then the loss is definitely higher quality. Replacing a game like Ole Miss, maybe not as much since that was a solid win, but our RPI would still be helped out more since UK is undefeated.

As far as total resume, I think it would only help if it replaced another loss. Lose to UK twice and beat Auburn once is a lot better than a split with Auburn and single lose to UK. But I wouldn't want to replace one of the Ole Miss wins with a UK lose. It may increase the RPI a couple of spots, but not enough to overcome missing out on a quality win, and possibly seeding in the SECT.

I was asking more along the hypothetical; LSU is a team just beyond the bubble, and now playing for NCAA seeding.

What is better for LSU-
1) beat Auburn, lose to Kentucky
2) beat Auburn, beat Georgia, lose to Ole Miss

or similar.

Basically, does playing and losing to #1 give a better RPI boost than playing and winning an extra game vs a decent team, then losing to another decent team?

As opposed to say, the loss of game one to Auburn. Yes. SOS and RPI would be slightly higher.

This is one of the many reasons RPI is stupid. Even if we get totally dumptrucked by UK, it improves our RPI.

Lose to UK in a close game = Getting dumptrucked by UK. RPI is the same.
