Don't know if this has been mentioned here before but it appears that Garmin has released a map chip that has satellite imagery of the LA marsh/bayou.

Anybody have this yet?

Anything that they do will be a big improvement over what they had before.

I can't use it either, but I pretty much just use an Iphone for marsh fishing.

It's sad when Google maps is 5xs what you get from a company in Garmin who claims they own the GPS market.

True, when I buy a boat in a couple years it will definitely have a lowrance. Now that i think about it, maybe just an Ipad...

Garmin, Uncle Earl's. Can you say something positive anymore?

He asked my opinion. I have plenty of positive things to say about Lowrance and zero to say about the 2 Garmin systems I used exclusively for 5 years. They suck. Period

ETA: you do more complaining about my complaining. Quit following me around on this site and maybe you will have a few nicer things to say.

Lowrance...made my own maps for areas i fish...Garmin and humminbird are Behind in my opinion. Not a bad price for the card though.

I've never used Humminbird, but you're better off using a potato for GPS than a Garmin.

ETA: Garmins are the most user friendly, but the map detail is lacking.

humminbird is pretty bad as well, if you fish marsh or coastal areas and saltwater lakes, areal imagery is the only way to navigate. most cards will be land where its water on the GPS

Yeah the standard map card is even with the amount of erosion we see throughout the year.

You're right he didn't. But seriously I don't care much for Garmin after switching. I feel like I'm looking at an etch a sketch.

I have a Lowrance Elite 5 and that's how I feel. Only thing it's good for is waypoints and tracks. Useless map feature. I use laminated Google Earth print outs for maps.

You feel like your lowrance is useless? Do you have a standard maps chip or navionics chip? If not, I suggest the navionics chip with satellite imagery, it will change your life.
