Am I stupid or is there a hidden setting in hangouts that will keep trying to send an SMS until it goes through?

Retarded that hours later I open hangouts and find messages "not sent, retry?"

Yes you fricking piece of shite...retry..RETRY! fricking just assume I want you to retry. Why are you even asking??

The possibility of draining the battery looking for signal to continually send a message would be my guess.

10 IF cellular.data = 1 THEN google.hangouts.SMS.queue(send.all)
20 ELSEIF cellular.data = 0 THEN GOTO 10
30 GOSUB AND NO RETURN

Dude, you really just need to make your own OS so you quit complaining that everything you want is not included.

Isn't this why android is so awesome, you can customize it to do whatever you want it to do?

See, this right here will kill your battery.

i was being sarcastic.

the little icon changes from no signal to signal all the time on my phone with data is in range.

once it changes to 'signal' why cant it do a simple lookup for queured SMS messages & send all?

that wont kill the battery..it only happens once.

if the data comes back later and there are no sms messages, then nothing happens.

Because something would have to kick that process off. Otherwise the process to continually check if there is signal to send the message will kill the battery.

About the only thing possible that wouldn't drain the battery that much would be similar to push notifications.

Check for any unsent messages at an interval and attempt to resend them....this would also kill the battery.

98% of phone OS code is written with battery life in mind.

so what kicks off the process to make the little icon change from an empty triangle to a triangle with LTE or H or 3G above it?

something is making that happen. all i'm saying is when that changes (signal found) see if any messages are unsent.

i dont see how thats any different than the check the phone is already doing to acquire a signal

you kind of sound like my buddy with dtv. whenever hd channels go out the sd channels still work. why cant the dtv receiver be smart enough to switch to sd channels if there is service interruption for longer than 5 seconds.

The 2 of you should get together and make a lot of money.

That's why I use Apple. It just works.

I can also send a picture or video bigger than 500MB.

DishNetwork does this. The only problem is that it doesn't automatically switch back to the HD channel when it is available again.
