Would you put "marathon runner" on a resume?

It came up in conversation about whether you should list marathon runner, or other lofty achievements, in your "interests" or "other" section on your resume.

I say it is OK to do this, but be careful, it could be resented by some fatty HR folks.

Definitely would put that on resume in an Interests/Hobbies section.

Does it apply to the position you are applying for? Because the answer to that is the answer to your question.

Is there a way to do a background check on that?

If not I'll be updating my resume tonight.

I would see it as a try-hard move, unless you're fresh out of college without much experience. Otherwise, your experience and/or qualifications are all that they should care about.

Agree, put it under hobbies or whatever, though I've never put that on a resume.

If you have a personal interests section, I don't see why not.

But I don't like the "26.2" stickers on cars.

Running my first marathon in a couple months and I can guarantee that sticker will not go anywhere near my vehicle.

Can I list that I ran the crescent city classic? Or list my bench, squat, and deadlift?

Be careful.

They check.

For a personal trainer job or something maybe.

For anything normal,

Yes you should, if you're applying to work at a sporting goods store. Otherwise no.

I'd like to get a 0.0 sticker for my car.

That's something I would put on my personal website (that hopefully the company will be checking out), not my resume. It has nothing to do with the job, and unless you're an entry level type, I don't even know how you should be able to fit it on there.

The only questionable thing I have on my resume is Eagle Scout. When I was interviewing people always commented on it but it felt odd putting something on my resume I did when I was 16.

I would not put marathon runner on my resume unless your job required some kind of physical endurance.
