Maybe I'm looking at it wrong but don't we want Ole miss to keep their RPI above 50. A loss to bama would drop them below. Ole miss is half of our top50 wins right now.
Finishing 4th in the SEC would outweigh Ole Miss outside the top 50 RPI.

In fact if it plays out where LSU wins 1 of it's next 2 and Ole Miss loses one of it's next 2, then LSU will be clearly IN over Ole Miss considering the sweep and RPI.

That means if the SEC gets 5 teams in, instead of 6, it's likely Ole Miss would be the team left out.

If Ole Miss loses this game LSU pretty much has the 4 seed locked up.

Fwiw A&M is a 5 point dog at Florida.

TAMU will have to lose twice for LSU to get the 3rd seed.

It's amazing TAMU has no "signature" wins except beating LSU twice. They are 0-6 vs RPI top 50 outside of LSU.

No need for that. Other people read the posts besides you and I.

Easily I wasn't refuting you.

We are very bad. Down to 9 total players including a walk-on. This is our worst team in 20 years.

Our big men are as bad as it gets at this level of the sport.

So aTm lost last night to Florida and UGA lost to UK, but Ole Miss pulled out the victory over Alabama.

We need Ole Miss to lose to Vandy this weekend or we have to win both Tenn and Ark to get the two round SECT bye.

A&M's loss last night pushed their RPI below us and Ole Miss. They are heading on the wrong side of the bubble.

That was a really bad loss for them last night. Gonna be tough sledding from here for the Aggies.

I think it would be us assuming they use the record of all the tied teams against each other.

LSU 3-2
Arkansas 2-2
A&M 2-2
Ole Miss 2-3

Here are the tie breaker rules:

quote:

Procedures

Teams will be seeded No. 1 through No. 14 in the SEC Men's Basketball Tournament bracket based upon the final regular season Conference standings. Teams that finished No. 1 through No. 4 in the final regular season standings shall receive a "bye" on the first and second days of the SEC Men's Basketball Tournament.

Two-Team Tie

The following procedure will be used in the following order until the tie is broken:

1. Won-lost results of head-to-head competition between the two teams.

2. Won-lost record of the two teams versus the No. 1 seed (and proceeding through the No. 14 seed, if necessary).

3. Coin flip by the Commissioner.

Three-Team Tie (or more)

When three or more teams are tied, the following procedure will be used in the following order until the tie is broken. If two teams re- main tied after a tiebreaker provision, the two-team tiebreaker formula will be used.

1. Best winning percentage of games played among the tied teams (Example: Team A is 3-1, Team B is 2-2 and Team C is 1-3 - Team A would be seeded highest, Team B second-highest and Team C lowest of the three).

2. Best winning percentage of the tied teams versus the No. 1 seed (and proceed- ing through the No. 14 seed, if necessary).

If two teams remain, coin flip by the Commissioner.

If three or more teams remain, draw by the Commissioner.

For the purpose of seeding, if an institution is precluded from participating in the tournament, such institution will automatically be seeded last. However, for the pur- pose of breaking ties, that team will remain where it finished in the regular-season standings BEFORE being seeded last.
