When purchasing a new home, knocked on the neighbor's doors to see how they are....? Just to see who's living next door and what you may be dealing with.. Having a pain in the *** neighbor can be a complete thorn in your side for many years.

I realized after three years of living in our new home, I have a bat shite crazy neighbor living next to me. She's not a thorn in my side, because I don't see her often, but there's always the chance of future problems existing...

You mean racially profiling the neighborhood?

Yep you need to check out the neighbors. I rented a house while building and the neighbors were a nightmare although the house was nice. Never would've thought to inspect that until then. Good thing I wasn't buying the joint.

-Dude's pitbulls regularly got loose and were protective of their yard.
-Dude would use my water hose. So I removed the house. He started putting his own hose there until my wife realized it and I told him to cut that shite out.
-Dude would park his trailer on my property like he owned it until I told him to stop.

Honestly I think level 10 rednecks are the worst option you can get next door.

I give my neighbors vegetables from the garden, fish, and venison. Of course I don't ever get anything from them, but they're all pretty cool and don't bother me at all. I'm not much of a hell raiser though.

I've never done it before moving in. But for the last few years, I've been required to introduce myself to the neighbors shortly after moving in.

I dealt with this years ago in a town home in Lafayette. The person we shared common walls with was completely insane. She went so far as to complain that us taking showers in the morning to get ready to go to work was disturbing her sleep.

These days I definitely do. My first home, the neighbors were from Florida. From then on, I knew to check that shite out ahead of time.

no, the neighbors usually come over and introduce themselves. Thats the proper protocol.

Luckily everyone in our cul de sac is great! There is a house a street over that still has their Christmas lights up....I actually just called the HOA on them earlier today

Good point. I live next door to a rent house. I didn't know when I bought it that it was a rent house. It wasn't up for rent at the time, so no sign in the yard or anything. The guys living there when I first moved in weren't bad, but in the 6 years I've been living there I've had a few bad ones.

One of them was some white trash crackhead. He was always starting his motorcycle at night and all kind of shite. He was working on his motorcycle one night and it blew up and caught fire. I don't remember if the actual garage caught fire, but I had to call 911.

You would think, but not these days...

I met my neighbors on our left side, who are really great... Introduced ourselves to the crazy bat shite girl, on our right, the first week, which she really didn't talk to us, until I realized she was crazy...

and most of the people I talk to on the block all say she's crazy...

I knew one of my neighbors was a problem when I bought my lot, which was the primary reason the lot was cheaper than it should have been. Sure enough, they are pains but it was still worth it.
