Any tips or suggestions for small business owners? I'm trying to go towards more of a paperless office. I'm looking for gadgets that can help me stay organized and provide me with easy access to my files.

Would like to know what works for you guys. TIA

law office. a lot of our hardware is about 10 years old. need to upgrade, but dont want to break the bank.

i've seen some of the new wireless scanners that go for a few hundred. but i dont understand what would be the benefit over a wireless traditional 4 in 1 (print/scan/copy/fax).

I don't see much benefit either unless you're constantly scanning and printing then you'd need separate machines ideally. You might also look around for software for law firms. There's probably a generic law firm software that will run all facets of the practice including document storing, billing, etc. Just a thought.

Some of the off she shelf, wireless printers, do not scan unless they are plugged in via USB

Speed and lifespan mostly. If you are wanting to test the waters with scanning to pdf, the Epson Workforce 4630 is not too bad of a machine. It does wireless scanning and scan to cloud (dropbox, google drive, etc.) The automatic document feeder does duplex scanning as well, so that is nice. It isn't going to set any speed awards, but for $200 you aren't risking too much.

If you do a lot of scanning, this is what we have in our office. It is unbelievably quick and user-friendly. It's also very expensive, but if you need to scan hundreds or thousands of pages and don't have a giant copier w/a scan to email feature I would get this in a second.

Any type of ScanSnap is probably the best scanner you could buy.

You also may want to contact and IT support firm, they could probably set you up with some cloud services and make sure all of your data is properly secured and backed up.
