Baton Rouge drivers + roundabout = lots of accidents while local drivers learn how to navigate one of these.

Must have missed it: where's the loop to ease traffic from so much development?

We're studying the problem.

From 2012: LINK /
quote:

BATON ROUGE- The Department of Transportation and Development has hired a consulting firm to study how to improve traffic conditions on I-10 between the Mississippi River Bridge and the 10/12 Split.

quote:

DOTD hopes to complete the study by the beginning of next year, and plans to have some better options on the table to alleviate traffic
.

And those wondering about Nicholson and truck traffic are making a good point. Nicholson (Hwy.30) is a key artery serving ascension and Iberville industrial sites. It is a heavily travelled corridor for tanker trucks carrying who knows what right through LSU.

Some kind of by-pass around LSU has long been necessary. With the redevelopment of 30 North of LSU it will be even more necessary.

A comprehensive plan to integrate a loop or bypass maybe a new bridge is necessary to alleviate the problems we have surrounding downtown BR.

We do not need studies anymore, we need a plan, and a plan of action.

shite, the dalrymple has already almost got me hit 3 times. People seriously don't realize the person in the roundabout has the righter way.

American drivers need to be forced to take a course on roundabouts before they are allowed to renew their DL. I about got in a wreck just yesterday because some dumbass tourist couldn't work a roundabout. He was a wearing a Bama hat so I flipped him off for 2 reasons.

And the other half of BR will go to crap. In 20 years...rinse and repeat.

That blows my mind, especially when there are yeild signs turning onto the roundabout. It is really very simple to navigate.

We could definitely use another bridge, probably 2, acting as bypasses from the north and the south. Its just so much money that we don't have. I would love to operate like Nashville. They have a river going right through their city and they act like its not even there. Unfortunately for us, our river is gigantic.

The City/Parish just refinanced bonds for the Green Light Plan and that will boost $40MM into the project (allegedly). With that money, five projects will get kickstarted back to life. One of those projects is Nicholson Widening from Lee Drive to Burbank (I think...it was in the Advocate last week).

LSU has already deviated from its renderings...nutrition center nowhere to be found in renderings, but going up in old Alex Box lot. Debbie downer attitude, but we will get watered down versions of most of this.

Secondly, my objection to not just BR, but development trends in general is that these mixed use complexes look great on paper, but they slap them together with the shittiest materials and then try to charge top dollar. See apts in River Ranch or Perkins Rowe as prime examples.

This somehow wasn't a problem for St. Louis, Davenport/Rock Island/Moline area, and the Twin Cities.

Still won't remedy the issue with tank truck traffic.

There should be a by-pass around LSU beginning North of Tigerland and continuing to the bridge.

I agree with this. I really like the idea behind these things in principle. However, if you're not using building materials to last more than 15-20 years, it all seems a bit pointless.

The DOTD and Green light program is building a $55 million on ramp/off ramp at Pecue. They have ample money to waste millions on a ramp there, that will be located less than a mile between 2 other I10 exits, but yet no money to attempt to do anything about traffic on the bridge.

They haven't done a single thing but conduct studies that call for more studies.

For the trips generated by LSU's campus from the surrounding Tigerland apartments and such, this is really needed. The overarching problem with truck traffic isn't really the GLP's aim, that's DOTD.

The planners need to work in tandem, but yes you are right the GLP would take care of what they are doing now (and I think they are doing great) and the state should have a plan for 30, I-10, 415, La 1, I110, etc.
