assassination of jesse james- I've said it a few times in a few threads, this has to be the most underrated movie of all time. its absolutely beautiful and mesmerizing.
howling- by far my favorite werewolf movie(besides the old universal wolf man films) and one of the best scary movies of the last 30-40 years
house of flying daggers- doesn't get the love of crouching tiger hidden dragon, and probably not quite as well known as Hero, but this movie is almost as good
Silver streak- gene wilder and Richard Pryor. Gets overlooked because of blazing saddles, young Frankenstein and other comedy classics but this movie is the perfect blend of comedy and action.

One of my favorite movies of all time is Kung Fu Hustle.
eta: Also a fan of The Quick in the Dead. Bad movie, quirky Western with all the Western stereotypes, combines that '90s style of film with a Western. Still enjoy it though, lots of star power (Gene Hackman, Russell Crowe, and a teenage Leonardo Dicaprio)

Frailty. Awesome movie that surprisingly few people (that I know) have even heard of, much less seen.
Despite the fact that it's a great movie, it has a few bonafide legit stars in it including mcaunaghey so I'm surprised it isn't more widely known.

Evil (Ondskan)- Swedish movie, but really good. You have to watch with subtitles.
