re: FBD - can you have too many hoppy beers?

I don't think FW BA beers age well usually. I do think they make some of if not the best BA beers on the market. You can always taste the beer and the barrel just adds to the flavor instead of overwhelming it. I also like how they are ready to drink fresh, not hot or anything. I'm going off on a tangent now but i think BA beers has become a fad and we are reaching the peak of it now. There will start to be a push back and a decline in the number of them in years to come. I for one, have just about had enough of them and would much rather be drinking a ten fidy right now. And yes, we have had about 2' of powder in the last 5 days with more falling.

It might be the same guy, but that means ut is bringing some DB Huna, Apple Brandy Huna, BA Abraxas, and some other legit whalez to trade. Because that's what dude told me he was trading for. I would have tried to set up some international BXN action, gain him as a trading partner, but I don't have the cellar to trade with this guy. Apparently dude was stocked with loons for trade, and not just the loons we get here.

I've had a few but i got into a discussion on another site about the current craft beer market. I will copy and paste my thoughts on the matter. Your thoughts? If anyone is still awake.


I know people are paying these prices now but I think the time is coming where people are going to get enough and there will be some push back. $16 six packs? $12 12oz bottles? Is this something people are going to continue to spend money on in the long term? I may be off, but it seems to me that these high priced beers have become the fad over the last 3 years. There is a fun aspect of craft beer with trying new things but at a certain point you have had basically everything and the only thing that really changes is the name on the bottle. At that point, you start looking at value for price. You start to ask yourself if you really enjoy that $16 six pack twice as much as the $9 one(with $9 becoming a rarity now). I think this will change the craft beer landscape some. It's a money grab right now for a lot of breweries and while I am not hating on them for doing it(it is a business at the end of the day despite what some of y'all think), i think the time is coming where these high end beers will become like luxury items that aren't wildly sought out but instead bought occasionally. I am pulling this out of my rectum because I don't know any breweries business model, but I would guess that most breweries need to sale volume to survive. Most breweries need the 6 pack a day drinker to buy their beer to make ends meet(profitable) and they are starting to price those guys out.

I don't think MBC is afraid of craft beer. Those guys are probably the smartest guys in the room and capable of making anything they want. Yes they have lost market share but I don't think they have lost profit margin. They are seeing what is going on with pricing and margins in craft beer and they want in. They are starting to make better products that are middle tier and ready to welcome the 6 pack drinker who wants a better tasting product(or one with any taste) than MBC but doesn't want to pay craft beer's new prices.

I am basing this on that I mostly do all my drinking at home off of sixtel kegs. I have been waiting for Superpower to reup for a few weeks so I have been buying 6 packs and bombers and the amount of money I spend now is just astounding to me.

LBD was this beaut. Great beer. Glad I grabbed a couple. Nice bourbon notes, but not over powering to the stout. Nice chocolate flavors on the back end. Oaky vanilla bourbon flavors over the top. Good beer.

I don't think a brewery can be successful counting on this. My point was that eventually most craft drinkers will eventually get tired of experimenting and just be drinkers. Drinkers weigh price per ounce with taste in mind to determine value, with most things excluding luxury items, perceived value determines purchase. $20 bombers are luxury items in that world and don't necessitate 8 cooler doors like they do now.
