The Big 12's not going to go all CUSA and expand into a third time zone. West Virginia joining essentially killed them expanding westward. I think If they were to expand, it's going to be some combination of Cincinnati, Memphis, USF, and UCF.

When you join a conference, all sports come into question. Many spring sports play on Sundays, particularly women's sports.

I have been saying it for awhile now. The Big 12 needs to add Cincy for all sports and BYU for football only. That would give the Big12 a title game and allow them to bring back the North and South divisions.
Then the AAC should just try and convince Army to come for football only so they can have 10 olympic sport schools and 12 football schools.

I don't think that's true
BYU has one of the biggest fan bases in college football and basketball
If that's true, name one of the Big 5 conferences who offered them when the cards were shuffled a few years back.
In fact, name one of the Big 5 who's expressed interest.

Thats a bad reason to not admit BYU. How many times has the school you root for played on Sunday? For regular season games, it would literally not be that hard to give BYU Sundays off. BYU, Cincinnati, Colorado St and Boise St to the new Big 12.
Below are the current basketball records of the new teams i mentioned.
NORTH: West Virginia (22-6) Cincinnati (19-9) Iowa St Kansas Kansas St Colorado St (24-5) Boise St (21-7)
SOUTH: Texas Texas Tech TCU Oklahoma Oklahoma St Baylor BYU (21-8) Seriously, just make this happen already. Those additions would the Big 12 sick in basketball!
South is a bitch in football compared to the north......kind of like the SEC West compared to the East. I like the additions you came up with though.

Big12 was interested, but the not playing on sundays was a deal breaker and that was back in the days of Texas not wanting a CCG. If the Big12 does not get permission to play a CCG with 10 teams I wouldn't be surprised if they invited BYU the next day.

BYU is HOPING for an invite to a major conference. Reality is nobody wants them.
Not sure why they wouldn't. They have a solid fan base. Might be one of the biggest fish out there not in a P5 conference.

A few years back they were busy going independent.
Lack of a fanbase is not why they aren't currently in the Pac-12 or Big-12.

True....among the issues is the school itself and the church that owns it. Anyone who thinks BYU would be a prize addition hasn't done their homework.

it's the texas way. since I've been here I've noticed how this legislature restricts the freedom of markets from beer, automobiles to financial institutions. all UH needs to do to make it happen is bring the money to Austin.

I could see the Big 12 adding BYU for football only, because of the headache of scheduling every other sport on Sunday

I don't see any of the P5 conferences expanding unless in makes sense money wise. Expanding sounds good, until you realize you are adding more shares to the revenue pie. I don't see the school's presidents approving anything that gives away revenue to other universities.
What schools would add revenue to the Big 12? And is this additional revenue great enough to justify added travel?

Can you imagine going from West Virginia to Idaho for a conference game? What a joke
Posted on 2/26/15 at 9:13 pm to BowlJackson
Cincinnati should be their next target, and maybe Memphis. Put Cincinnati in a real conference and I believe that program is a sleeping giant.

As if Iowa State, Miss State, Wazzu, Wake, Texas Tech , Baylor, Northwestern, Vandy, etc. add more than they take home now?

They had their chance with the P12 and refused to budge on not playing sports on Sunday.
