Because people are assholes and have bad lives so the enjoy the misery of others.
Because they are jealous and petty. Hating on something or someone else makes their shitty life a little better, somehow.

This is a cop-out... Its all about routine and working with what you know..... Willpower is key... I can be tempted just as much as he could.... Being a millionare has NOTHING to do with addicition....
You would need to sell your trailer and cash out your retirement savings to get some good cocaine. And no one would want to party with you. He can buy the best drugs at any time and do them with the sexiest of girls. And he can do that every day.
Other than that, yeah it's the same

i'm still pulling for the guy. How can people be so angry with someone that didn't hurt anyone but them self?
He's hurting many others besides himself...more than himself. You only came to the above conclusion because it's important for you to believe that. Frankly, it's an opinion that highlights a very self-centered point of view.

Some of those females actually HATE me and refuse to have a well rounded understanding of it all
How dare they react to a situation in which they were hurt. I've seen how addition destroys those surrounding the addict. It's heartbreaking.
You need to accept the fact that you are not the victim. It's those around you that are the victims. And, the fact that you are currently sober/clean doesn't change that fact. Your actions have long lasting consequences to others. You can't fix it. Those who love you just live with the reality that at any point, you'll go back to the drugs. It's a reality. You admit that with your "brain of an addict" statement. You can't promise anything because you have no idea if you'll ever go back to drugs. If your story is typical, you've broken that promise time and time again.

Addicts don't need pity either though
It may not be good for them (I have no idea), but it's absolutely an appropriate response to an addict.

Of course. There is a big difference between pulling for a guy to succeed and justifying his behavior.

I hate to say I told you so to Angels fans but... well... Rangers fans kept telling y'all that him quitting on the Rangers and abandoning his support system was one of the worst things he could do for a person with his condition
So glad the Rangers cut their ties with him. Hope he gets better for his children's sake but as for LAA -

Some of you people don't seem to understand that a substance abuse problem doesnt excuse someone from being responsible for their own actions in other areas.
I would never make light of Josh Hamilton's addiction problems. In addition, he was my favorite player for awhile. But the truth is, after getting off to a hot start in 2012, Hamilton seemed to totally lose his focus. He started dropping routine fly balls, and even Nolan Ryan publicly criticized him for taking ridiculous swings at pitches that weren't even close to being strikes. The guy just absolutely quit on Texas the second half of 2012.
And then, after he signed wit LAA, he ripped both the Rangers organization and the fans. Both of those criticisms were 100% off base. The Rangers did everything they could to help JH keep his life on the right track.
I'll never make light of anybody's addiction issues. But, having those issues doesn't absolve a person from being responsible for their actions in other areas.
