Homeowner's = Progressive underwritten by ASI
Car = progressive
I get a discount if you have both with progressive and pay the car insurance up front.

quote:Many who are not eligible to become members are eligible to become associate members. Members are insured by USAA, and associate members are insured by USAA-CIC. Members are owners of the company, associate members are customers. Being an owner is better than being a customer, but being a customer is still a better deal for insurance for those eligible.
See if you are eligible for USAA (nearly every person in america could swing it with effort)
Members have Subscriber's Accounts to track their ownership interests. Every year the profits are allocated among the members, and a portion of those profits are applied as a discount to the members' insurance premiums. So insurance for the members is generally cheaper than for associate members.
My father is a member and I became an associate member from the time I started driving in 1975 until I became a member when I started OCS in the Army. Anyone who is eligible for membership is a fool to get insurance anywhere else. And those eligible for assistant membership should compare USAA to alternatives.

I'm in BR, and I switched everything (home, auto, umbrella, life) to SF from Allstate because of the hurricane deductible. I'd like to get quotes from other places to lower my rates without lowering any coverage's, but it's imperative that I don't compromise good service for price.
USAA sounds like a good choice, but I don't think I'd qualify.

Currently with Allstate for cars. Have Northlight which is a subsiduary of Allstate for home and rental. Allstate umbrella. Northlight went up over 25 percent only homeowners this year. Said F it and just got off the phone with a Chubb agent. We'll see how this goes.

I fear the quality of customer service will be lower though
Might be the one I hate the most this week. Those frickers will try to frick you any chance they get. They are horrible.

USAA, they were great when I had hail damage to my five year old roof. Gave me a brand new one.

I used to have Liberty Mutual and didn't have full auto insurance, but did have insurance that if anything happened to my truck that wasn't my fault, it was covered. I forget what the additional coverage is called, but it was dirt cheap and my agent strongly recommended it.
Fast forward about 2 years...my truck gets stolen and never recovered. I had forgotten about the additional insurance. Guess what, the truck was covered and they made the claim easy and effortless. They even paid tt&l for my replacement vehicle. I had just put new tires on my truck a month before it was stolen and I went to the tire place and got a receipt and they paid for those too!

Same here. Homeowners policy is up for renewal in June. I guess I should expect the same increase.

I' ve had State Farm and Prudential in the past...good companies. Started using a broker a few years ago and currently use insured through the Republic Group. Saved about $100/month by switching for home/auto. I will re-shop every 3-5 years.

[/quote} any reason why you're shopping house? Chubb too much $$? My Northlight went up drastically, I got a quote from a company called UPC, decent rate, $1k storm deductible but I bet the service sucks.
