Junior in high school.. Wasn't really considered a huge deal in my surrounding world.. Odd to think how much the psyche of most Americans has changed but not due to that attack. The level of intrusion, the general relationship between governmental authority and citizens has deteriorated to dangerous levels from local to fed. The greatest battle that Al Queda won was the release of freedoms and a paranoia that persists between citizens and its government.

It wasn't as big of a deal in the 90's. Terrorism was not a huge concern. Even up to and after the attack on the Cole. The only terrorism we did concern ourselves with was domestic, like the OKC bombing in 1995.
But this attack was huge for AQ and their funding. It put them on the map. Had we pursued them with the intensity we should of, it's plausible that 9/11 wouldn't of happened. Though we can do what ifs forever about that sandbox.

Middle school. Remember it vaguely. Don't remember it being that significant, especially after Gulf War coverage for a year

End of 2nd Grade. Remember it well.
In any event HBO made a movie about it and the capture of the perps. As you may know, the plot was to have the bomb take out the support, having the tower collapse like a tree into the other tower to knock that one down too.
The ending quote of the movie is something like, "Next time, we will get both towers." And they actually did it.

I was at the Stadium complex with 2/9 in Mogadishu, Somalia for Restore Hope. That place is literally hell on earth.

Went through Air Assault school at Schofield while I was attached to Marine Barracks Pearl Harbor in early 1990, just to fill in some down time.
