Liberal hollywood started hating on ZDT because it "endorses torture"

Argo was a pretty legit film and story itself.

Loved zero dark thirty

My arse has never been so tense in a movie theater than that last 45 minutes of the film

I thought it was very well done and has some great actors. Even Kyle chandler had a great role

Seriously? Some movies just have no shot with the people that vote for best picture. ZDT should have won and it would have been very surprising if it had.

One movie was about the CIA/Navy Seals defeating terrorists. The other movie was about Hollywood beating terrorists. There's your answer.

Another thing that's underrated about ZDT is the score

I remember the music being gripping. That scene where the seals are riding in the black Hawks at the end and nobody's talking and all you hear is that pounding tense music. That's badass. The theater was freaking dead silent

Zero Dark Thirty and Argo were both great movies.
I'd choose Argo over ZDT, barely. I feel more anxious watching Argo. It's more suspenseful to me. I like the ZDT story a little better, but i'd go Argo over ZDT.
American Sniper is no where near the discussion with these two, or Hurt Locker.

Yeah, but Zero Dark Thirty had Chris Pratt, so it wins.

I liked it as well but it felt a little disjointed when it was jumping several years from scene to scene.

I had to watch it three times to put it all together. I was not paying close enough attention to what exactly she was looking for at first. Oh, and loved it.

I wish I had - I skipped it at the theaters and watched it on a PC - basically in 15 to 20 minute increments. I do need to do a rewatch on a big screen and watch it as a single piece.

Definitely. The building tension and sense of urgency is a key component of the movie being as good as it is. You probably didn't get that from watching it piecemeal.

Not at all...bro, but he was asking why it lost out to Argo. Argo's a great movie, no doubt. Both movies are. Just saying that when its a tie on all ends, the Academy picked the one they probably identified with.

The music made that scene. Its one of the few times I've been in a theater and everyone in there was absoultely captivated. Perfect example of why a movie score can be so important. If they had something like "Ride of the Valkyries" it wouldn't have been near as gripping. BTW "gripping" is the perfect way to describe it.

To be fair, as long as it didn't get too political it was a fool proof setup. Give me a movie with:

1) Hot redhead
2) CIA
3) SEALs
4) Terrorism
5) Killing OBL in the world's most famous special operations op

Yeah, I'm gonna watch that.

I'm not even articulate enough to put into words how fricking awesome this movie is. Easily one of the best films of the 21st century. I strongly encourage anyone who thinks otherwise to re-watch it. It's a modern classic.

It really is an incredible movie.

No - I got that - even in pieces, that movie is clearly as intense as I've ever seen - like edge of my seat intense. I think I decided to break it up because it was so long - and the "intensity" beats, whether it was the waterboarding, the long drive-in meeting at the FOB, the ambush, the surveillance chases, then the mission itself.

Because of my background - I've done a lot of similar things, but the way it was shot, paced, timed, and heck, it was extremely well acted - I shouldn't have been sucked in by the intensity, but I definitely was.

And to top it off - knowing about 70% of the story going in - there were very few surprises, but it was still a very intense movie (Ridley pulled that off to a certain degree with Blackhawk Down - I read the book and knew everything that was going to happen, who lived and who died, and it was still an incredible movie.)
