In too. But that classics bracket is a beast. Amazing movies released during that period that stood the test of time.

Seeding will likely not be based on box office gross adjusted for inflation. It doesn't seem very representative of opinion.

For example, in the Disney Classics quad, seeding would have 101 Dalmatians as a 2 seed, Pinocchio as a 6 seed, and Aladdin at a 9 seed.

I'll probably base it on my previously posted link as it seems to most closely follow public opinion.

Actually, it works for renaissance, but sucks hard on classics. Lady and the Tramp is it's 1 seed, followed by Mary Poppins and Song of the South.

Alright, here's tentative seeding based on my feel from general opinion, especially the vibes from this board. The seeding and even possibly a movie or two are not perfect and may be changed.

Classic Bracket:

quote:

1 Snow White
16 101 Dalmatians

8 Dumbo
9 Robin Hood

5 Pinocchio
12 Bambi

4 Mary Poppins
13 Fox and the Hound

6 Jungle Book
11 Peter Pan

3 Song of the South
14 Fantasia

7 Cinderella
10 Alice in Wonderland

2 Sleeping Beauty
15 Lady and the Tramp

CGI Era Bracket

quote:

1 Finding Nemo
16 Cars

8 Tangled
9 Princess and the Frog

5 WALL-E
12 Brave

4 The Incredibles
13 A Bug's Life

6 Up
13 Monster's, Inc.

3 Toy Story 3
14 Winnie the Pooh (2011)

7 Wreck-it-Ralph
10 Big Hero 6

2 Frozen
15 Ratatouille

If you can sort that out better, good luck

The half of the bracket I've worked on

Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Little Mermaid will be in other half.

It might be easier to do the seedlings by imdb rating.

Without these the tournament is pointless

Because they clash completely. Really just have Song of the South, Mary Poppins, and Enchanted. They work just fine as animated movies. Could you imagine Cool Runnings or Heavyweights as animated movies? I don't think so.

Shuffle them completely. At least two brackets would sabotage each other, and two shitty brackets would have less than stellar picks make it to the top.

And Snow White as number 1 pick is a joke. If it were released today, it would be panned as an incredibly shallow movie with shitty characters and catchy songs.

The problem with that would be some early match-ups where Renaissance and PIXAR wreck shop. I figure this division will give some hard picks early on. This gives a Classic Representative, a Renaissance Rep., A CGI Rep., and an underdog Miscellaneous Rep. in the final four. I think this tourney is more about the discussions of each match-up than a pure competition.

I don't care much for it but I'm not going off my opinions and it would be hard to shift it too much. Sleeping Beauty could take over that spot.

Is it too late to nominate Bedknobs and Broomsticks?

I agree with shuffling completely. If 3 renaissance movies end up in the final 4 then so be it. Better that then to have a movie like little mermaid eliminated in the first round of the Renaissance bracket and some movie nobody has seen make the sweet 16 or elite 8 of a miscellaneous round.

My kids still enjoy watching this classic as much as any other Disney movie out there. And I think Snow White should be given the number one seed in that bracket--it's the classic that started it all.

Some sort of seeding is better. Who wants Lion King vs. Toy Story in Round 1? This is what happened with the Comic Book Tourney and that ruined some great runs and lead to some weird matchups.
