So right now there have been mixed opinions on live actions, but most believe we should cut Ghibli and Tim Burton?
I'm cool with that.
IMO, you can't cut any PIXAR from Cars onward, as Disney officially acquired PIXAR in 2006. However, Disney and Pixar worked very closely together and it would exclude some of Disney's best works. They could also serve to weigh against renaissance era films

This deserves mentioning for the live action movies

honestly we could just match up the Disney classics against the renaissance and call it a day.

I don't think live action fits unless there is animation throughout the film. Who Framed Roger Rabbit is an example. 2 1/2 main characters are animated.
I also don't mind adding PIXAR, although I understand the argument for removing them.
That being said, I'm fine with whatever the majority decides. As for rankings, I agree with another poster who suggested adjusted box office gross which is easy enough to find on BoxOfficeMojo.
Thanks MrTide33.

Why don't we do an animated bracket and a live action bracket. Then the two winners face off head to head

Holy Christ, who is that in your avi?

Here's a good possibility: I've done my best to divide Disney by era into quadrants. This is, of course, not a perfect fit but nothing is, so I'm taking more suggestions for revisions. These are unseeded, rough groupings
Q1: Classics
For the last four in this grouping, it must be decided between Robin Hood, Aristocats, Sword in the Stone, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and Fox and the Hound. Or, Mary Poppins or Song of the South could be placed in this category.
Q2: Disney CGI/PIXAR
This bracket is pretty fairly stacked, but it could be shifted if we need to move Toy story 1 & 2 to the renaissance bracket. If that were the case, I'd suggest filling the vacancies with the two traditionally animated films of this era, Princess and the Frog and Winnie the Pooh.
I'll let you guys chew on this for a bit, I have to work on a couple of things, but it will allow a chance for feedback on the current quadrant setup before I announce the other two
Q1: Classics
quote:
1. Snow White
2. Pinnochio
3. Sleeping Beauty
4. Dumbo
5. Bambi
6. Fantasia
7. Alice in Wonderland
8. Cinderella
9. Lady and the Tramp
10. Jungle Book
11. 101 Dalmatians
12. Peter Pan
For the last four in this grouping, it must be decided between Robin Hood, Aristocats, Sword in the Stone, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and Fox and the Hound. Or, Mary Poppins or Song of the South could be placed in this category.
Q2: Disney CGI/PIXAR
quote:
1. Toy Story
2. Toy Story 2
3. Toy Story 3
4. A Bug's Life
5. Monster's, Inc.
6. Finding Nemo
7. The Incredibles
8. Cars
9. WALL-E
10. Ratatouille
11. Up
12. Brave
13. Frozen
14. Wreck-It-Ralph
15. Tangled
16. Big Hero 6

I think you do Pixar Alone then Modern Disney/CGI with Princess+Frog, Pooh Big Hero 6, Ralph, Frozen, etc. Depends on the other 2 quadrants.

Just ETA'd the OP to tell that the other 2 are Renaissance and Miscellaneous. Renaissance is the hardest because it's quite a few away from getting to 16 (hence the possible shift with the Toy Story's). Fantasia 2000 and Oliver & Company could be stuck into that category to make fourteen but it's a slight stretch and they'll be lower seeds.
Also Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas and James & the Giant Peach were in the era, but seem out of place. A Goofy Movie could be put in here

If Goofy Movie doesn't make the Renaissance quadrant, perhaps there can be a play-in for the 16 seed between it and Brink

If you need another movie to fill up a slot I think we have forgotten about 20,000 leagues under the sea

Robin Hood. Mary Poppins. Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Fox and Hound.

I'm pondering getting the first 3 Quadrants set up first and letting every spot in the Miscellaneous be a play-in since there will be so many left out. Or maybe just the bottom half as a play in.
