Sounds like that would create a 10 second shot clock? And it's basically make it take it

That would be awesome

Yup. Every possession starts with a 10 second "shot clock" and an inbounds pass from under the basket. Hell that would be an interesting modification to basketball in general. Not permanently, but I would love to see what it would look like with NBA players.

This is why any state playoff tournament should be single elimination.

8 seeds would be tanking like crazy in the NCAA tournament if they knew they could avoid Kentucky in the second round and still get to play their way out of a losers bracket.

Who cares if they tried to throw the game? They can do what they want. Stop being a bunch of left wing politically correct pussies.

get both coaches over and abuse them in front of everyone on how disgraceful they are and how shitty of role models they are. Make sure they are embarrassed for being d-bags.

So if you reffed the game you would have basically made it all about you?? Because none of that is the ref's job or responsibility

that's pretty pitiful.

my biggest lock for betting ever was when UCLA threw the game against Stanford so that they would play Stanford instead of oregon in the pac 12 championship. loaded up on Stanford for the first game and loaded up on UCLA for the championship. had an insane couple of weekends

I'm not sure how TN does it but it sounds like AL where they have Area play and the top 2 from Area make it. But you still play for area championship to determine home court

I'm happy they both got kicked out of the playoffs. That way, nobody will have the incentive to do this again.

it's smart strategy. i don't know why people are having such a spazz about it

An update from earlier:

Deadspin has picked up on the story.

LINK

Nothing new, but it does have video. And in classic deadspin fashion, from the comments:

God, haven't seen someone try to avoid Blackman like that since Donald Sterling was running the Clippers

TN has districts (which is where this happened) and the top 4 move on to Regionals. Regionals are two districts matched up. The third place team would get paired on the same side of the bracket as Blackman, hence both teams trying to throw the game. In the Regionals, the top two teams advanced to Sectionals/Sub-State, where the winner of the Regionals host a game and the loser travels to play. It is a one game "win and you're in" deal. State has 8 teams, single elimination.

All of this was correct some 15 years ago when I played.

Because they either have, or should have, an ethical component in the league rules about playing in a competitive manner.

The problem is the total and complete lack of pride in ones self, and the confidence that you can beat hte #1 seed.

Coaches are both losers in my opinion. Teaching the kids nothing about life and what it really takes to succeed.

Apparently they cannot, since they have both forfeited the game, and rightly so.

Youth sports is about more than just wins and losses. Unless you are a POS who cares nothing about the development of the kids.
