I think even with repeating some of the same side quests, it doesn't even feel the same. The fighting dynamics are so good you can make it seem like a brand new fight.

Has anybody beat Vegeta in his final training session? Holy crap is it hard. I've done it 4 times and still can't beat it.
I get him down to the last bit of health, do an ultimate attack, and somehow he stops me in mid attack and just cancels it every time.
I swear it is not possible to do in the time allowed. I'm level 28. He just doesn't take damage.

Was able to finally beat it last night but it took me forfrickingever. I left it and went and did some parallel quests then one of the time scroll quests. Leveled up to about level 33 and then was finally able to beat him. Having the Super Saiyan transformation or Kaioken really helped out a lot.

The community seems to love it, but reviewers are not being too generous. Still gonna buy it though.

I have this game now, just no time to play it.

Yea, I probably need to get that leveled up. I need to get better at the basic attacks. I get raped every time I try and use them. If it is hand to hand, I basically have to dodge and then do a grapple to survive.

Yeah I got a day one copy on PS4. Played a good bit. That final Vegeta training mission was rough. I can't remember what level I completed it at, but it was likely around 30-something. I felt all hopeless when he went SSJ2 and saw he had two health bars.
My strategy was to complete Piccolo's training, then equip gear that boosts your Ki and Special attacks. Equip Piccolo's Master soul that you receive from training and then equip light grenade and special beam cannon. Vegeta's AI prefers fighting from a distance, so just run away and power up (assuming you bought that skill). Then, close the gap and hit him with special beam cannon, which cannot be blocked. If Vegeta is pressuring you or you're having trouble power up enough, use the light grenade and don't forget to power it up by repeatedly tapping the button. The damage is still substantial.
Also pack some healing items if you have them.

What attributes have y'all been boosting?
Posted on 2/26/15 at 2:15 pm to Tayday
I'm a saiyan so the first things that I boosted were health and stamina. Now I'm boosting my basic attacks and max ki.

What I've seen as well. I think the reviewers are comparing it to other fighting games instead of putting it in it's on category. Most DBZ video game fans are in love with this game from what I've read. Most of the reviews look like "meh it's good but nothing ground breaking" while most of the community reviews are "OMG best DBZ game ever made!!!!" and I tend to agree with the latter

What does it take to get the souls from missions?
Posted on 2/26/15 at 4:12 pm to Scruffy
Looks like Steam is releasing it a little earlier than expected:

Souls from missions are random. Piccolo's soul that I referred to is gotten by completing his 3rd or 4th training mission. To get more training missions from your mentor, use them as a partner in battle. I think using the techniques they teach you may help too.

yep just bought it, downloading now

I did the body switch with Ginyu and there's one part of the quest where I (as Ginyu) and Krillin and Gohan have to fight a number of endless assholes after Gildo runs away and they keep fricking dying
Posted on 2/26/15 at 9:11 pm to Byron Bojangles III
Yeah you have to kill 20 of those dudes I believe. Gohan and Krillin are worthless in that mission

so is this game worth the pickup?
I was a dbz fan when I was a kid but never enjoyed the games too much outside of BT3

Absolutely.

I can't dodge. I don't understand how the vanish mechanic works. I disappear and then reappear right where I was, and I don't even know how I executed it. It sucks having zero experience using a controller.
