Has anyone actually watched this movie? Maybe we should have a bad movie night for it. I'd be game.

He should've won over Ben Affleck. Affleck has been doing very well for a while now.

Maybe. Ben affleck was in the dumps for a long time. Keanu reeves kept having random hits where he was decent. A Scanner Darkly was a very good movie. Constantine was entertaining. He directed a movie in a man of Thai chi when u I haven't seen but was supposed to be decent. There was a good 10 year stretch where aflec was a joke.

Agreed. How could Affleck even be nominated now? His 180 on everyone started a while back.

I think I'm lucky that the only movie I've seen even nominated was "A Million Ways to Die in the West".

Just his directing stints have been good since 2007.

Gone Baby Gone
Argo
The Town

Gigli was in 2003. He only had something like a 4-5 year run of bad shite post Gigli/Daredevil.

I'd say that State of Play in 2009 is a good part to say he started his good run, if you don't want to count Gone Baby Gone.

You are probably right. I'm coming from the last thing I saw him in that I liked was Shakespeare in Love (which i love FWIW). But I haven't seen that many of his other movies.

That's why Affleck won the award. It's a "redeemer" award.
