Bought a temper pedic mattress a few years ago and in the last year I have noticed its started to get really hot. I don't know if I just never really noticed or that it's been broken in more. I was looking at some on Amazon and the prices/ratings are all over the place, like $50 to $1200 (not spending anything close to that). Anyone care to drop some knowledge?

I bought a $100 one from Amazon that made a big difference. It takes heat from your body and spreads it through the pad. Regulates your temp basically.

I just cannot understand how a cooling matress pad would work...if it soaks up heat, then it is hot and makes you hot...if it doesn't, then you are still hot...

maybe I am being too analytical...

I have a cooling pillow. It gets hot after it takes the heat off of a person.

It came with a small cooling pad which came folded up.

I tried to take it out the box and it was stuck in the folded position. When I tried to unfold it, it cracked.

waste of money!!!!!

The actual pads or the gel bed tops? I was just reading some reviews on the tops. I'm not trying to spend what I paid for my mattress on a cooling pad

The pad with the unit that circulates hot or cold water. Interestingly, the "cube" form factor looks a lot bigger than our units. Ours were part of a package with our bed, list price was $500 each for two twin xl size pads.
