I am guessing this is something related to logging? Looks to have been there at least 20 years. Also looked 'homemade.'

On my phone, it looks like an old sawmill with random parts taken off of it

Thanks. I was thinking sawmill of some sort. Something bad happened to it in the past because some of the top frame is cracked and bent and there are busted bearings.

The thing weighs a ton and will probably sit there for another 20 years.

Changed my mind. It looks like a processor that cuts logs to length with parts missing. Still on my phone though

He said maybe a saw mill, but he didn't know why it had so many gears.

I notice on that last one, there is what looks like either an air or a fuel tank on the near end in the picture...

Good eye. There was a tank there with some metal tubing going to the back. I think it was for water or oil. There were some garden hoses on the back of the trailer.

That is a debarker/cutoff for a saw mill. People would pay big money for it. Is it on your place?

Nice find.

So those "gears" are not gears but are for scrapping the bark off logs? cool.
