Killing big breeder trout doesn't do anyone any favors besides putting hero shots on the internet. CCA isn't helping out either by putting a bounty on their head. I've heard rumors of a slot limit coming for speckled trout, with any luck we will be able to put an end to killing these big breeders.

Cool fish though. I wish I had the skills to target big trout. The only thing I'm good at is sight casting reds on the fly. I haven't caught a spec in several years.

From an email yesterday:

This year, we will have great prizes for the 2nd and 3rd place finishers in the Trout Division and we are adding a Tagged Trout Division in addition to redfish thanks to our friends at the Super Chevy dealers of New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette.

Even more trout! although, I didn't hook a single trout during the tournament last year.

My wife is cool about A LOT of shite but holding a slime covered fish in the living room probably isn't one of them.

Nice fish though

I don't doubt he has skills but there are some guides that fish big lake that are animals. True animals at catching fish like that. You have to be wired different to fish big lake. It will humble the shite out of you with the quickness. Nonetheless, killer fish.

I agree. I've been living in LC and fishing big lake for 15 years. I know just about all of the guides. I have a few buddies that guide and I still stand behind my statement 100%.

And his initials are SL

Nice trout! The big female trout are going to start slipping into the warmer shallows to fatten up for the spawn. Give that trout another 6-8 weeks feeding and she'd be pushing 9 1/2 pounds. Here is Florida we are only allowed one trout over 20 inches and that's about the maximum size I'll keep. Everything else gets a picture and released. If I can take a pic of a fish I don't have any problems releasing the fish.

Motorboat....its amazing to think...but Fish can hardly feel the wind blow at all.....I have always enjoyed the comments about weather and fishin....."you caught that in this storm"....lmao

Are you serious? Weather is a huge factor in fishing. But you go ahead and fish the really windy days and let us know how it works out for you.
