I do ab work weekly. Usually some form of leg raises, reverse sit ups, and crunches. I don't do oblique work(on a hyperextenion bench) because I've heard that doing it will make them bigger and that's not what I want.

My question is would it be OK to mix in a torso twist machine into the routine? I like to stay lean and not trying to bulk.

Should I do this or just stick with what I'm doing along with cardio?

I don't need to hear the "you can't spot lose..." bullshite.

Just practice gymnastics type moves and stay away from heavy ab work. And stop crunches, they are useless. Hang from a bar or rings and work the abs using your legs.

Ab work, don't, it hurts. Kidding

I wouldn't do any machines, but that's me and I am a lean over bulk fan too.

Diet controls ab aesthetics.

However if you're looking to increase core strength for competition then include deadlifts, squats, landmine 180's, & glute bridges.

Unless you're doing some serious weight and sets, you aren't going to bulk. That's the last thing you should be worried about.

Seriously, some people worry so much about "bulking", yet it's a very hard thing to accomplish. If it was easy, those twigs you see in the gym everyday trying to bulk up wouldn't be twigs.
