Pricing of computers really negates this argument. Also console controllers are far better for a significant number of games than mouse and keys. I'll agree this post makes a lot of good points though

All kinds of ignorance in this post

I have a ps4 and a PC and it's two completely different experiences. Sure there are things that PCs do much better but there will always be a place for consoles

I disagree. They're becoming more like PC's. The PC is clearly superior for gaming. The two biggest consoles are made by large general electronics/computing companies, not video game companies. Theres a huge emphasis on multimedia integration. These are the fundamental things that have changed, the classic console age is over, and it's becoming obsolete.

Console sales are ahead of last generation, they aren't going anywhere.

quote:You didn't read. They're ahead of last generation because they're becoming more and more like a computer. You can surf the web, watch netflix, youtube, watch/stream on twitch, import music, etc. Consoles have been glorified computers with low-end gaming specs since last gen.

How can you disagree that consoles are far more cost effective than PCs? A decent graphics card for a PC will cost nearly as much as an Xbone, then you still have to pay for the rest of the PC

This is the comment I was responding to. Perhaps he meant it different than I took it.

Because I'm not being a dumbass and spewing shite that I don't know about.
Below is my current HTPC that I use with on my 55" TV in my living room. It bends the xbone and the ps4 over and rapes them.

quote:You aren't limited at all at what you can do on a computer, though. If you think a console is more cost effective than a computer, you don't know what cost effective means. A computer can emulate anything regardless of what it was released for, isn't as limited on development restrictions, and can do a billion other things outside of gaming. I spent just under $1000 on my rig almost three years ago and can STILL play new releases at max settings with zero issues.

Before this turns into a big dumb debate, you can get consoles cheaper than that now and you didn't include an OS. Some people don't feel comfortable pirating and some don't get the free ones from LSU.
Posted on 2/22/15 at 11:53 am to Mr Gardoki
Then put Linux and steamOS on it. That's a stupid and invalid excuse.

Boom.
Also to the guy mentioning the controls. Most PC games can use mouse / keyboard OR a gamepad.
I use my Xbox control all the time for my PC games.

I almost only use my htpc with a controller. I have one of those wireless adapters so we can get up to 4 people playing Mario kart 64. Its the bees knees

What if they don't want those things? Not all games are running on those yet correct? Everyone is different and wants something different. This is why the debate is so dumb. People get mad when someone doesn't want the same thing as them.
