Hey, I know food prices are up. And, I'd rather see price increases on a menu than the item disappear, or the quality suffer. But each of us have a 'price point' in our mind to where we feel like an establishment is taking unfair advantage of us.

For me, $15 for 6 fired oysters with sauce and a bit of cabbage turns me off from even wanting to go to the restaurant.

Opinions? I know you have 'em.

What are asian oysters?

To answer the question, I'd never pay that, especially in Louisiana.

Fried oysters with Asian sauce from a bottle poured on them.

I thought they were like Chinese crawfish or something.

I had them and thought the same thing - over priced and too little - should be an appetizer not an entree item.

Yep. You are talking about a customer's perception of value.

Customers rely on their experiences at other restaurants to determine what is a fair value. The price is "unreasonable" if it is higher than what other similar restaurants are charging for the same or similar menu item.

It was an entree when it was a special - may have changed it due to the obvious.

The shrimp app is awesome!

Certainly oyster prices are high (what isn't??) but anything over $2 bucks per oyster is certainly excessive.

I've had those on a poboy and it was the only poboy I've ever thought was anything special. Very good sandwhich, but don't think I'd pay $15. The poboy I had was at Poboy Fest and it was like $6 and came with 4 or 5 oysters.

For those saying food prices are up, when were they ever stable or low? I feel like food has been rising steadily for decades....

Oysters at Peche on my last visit were $4 per oyster, pre tax/tip...and mighty delicious.
