45 points (22 shots), 6 boards, 4 assists. He may not win a National Championship, but he made a great decision to leave UK in my opinion. He's proven how good of a player he really is this year and that would have been hidden on a roster as talented as UK. I know tonight they played Pacific, but the kid is really good.

I will never forget being in the student section when A&M played Kentucky close years ago. You could see the lack of confidence in Wiltjer's eyes. We ragged on him all game because he just seemed so mentally weak. Great decision to transfer. Really helped his mojo.

The year Kentucky went to the NIT he had a good run of games and it looked like that team had finally figured things out. Then he had a couple games where his shots weren't falling and his confidence was just shot for the rest of the season.

Couldn't be happier for the kid.

I really hope he, and Gonzaga as a team, are able to perform well in the tournament this year. What Few has done at that program is really impressive and in my opinion it is completely overlooked and dismissed by the avg college basketball fan because they haven't had great tournament success.

Gonzaga has become the premier university in the US when it comes to polishing players skills through the redshirt process. Their strength & coordinating coach knows how to take their players to the next level which is why they are so good year after year and why they are the destination now for elite transfers. Scary to think how good Gonzaga is going to be next year when they return all of their bigs.

Saw that David Stockton was signed to a 10 day NBA contract today with the Sacremento Kings.

The year off to build up his strength really has made a difference for him. I'm glad he's doing well with the Zags. I think while he's really blossomed offensively, he would've had some trouble fitting in with this current UK squad from a defensive standpoint.

But he sure may, this is the best Zaga team ever, granted that isn't saying much in terms of NCAAT success (they made 1 elite 8 in 99), but this team has it all.

I really hope he scores like 30 against Kentucky in a tournament match up.

I know that relationship is pretty normal and everyone seems to like each other/respect the decisions made, but I just like when that shite happens. Would be a fun story.

I love me some Wiltjer but running in to WCS and Towns is his worst nightmare

They have looked good but then again they haven't played a tournament team since early December.

While I typically would agree... This is a different Gonzaga than we are used to seeing.

Not only do they have Wiltjer, but they also have Byron Wesley who averaged 18ppg at USC last year. And they have a few very good Euro players, most notably Arvydas Sabonis son, Domantas Sabonis, and Karnowski who is a 7'1 Center. And Pangos is still there.

This Gonzaga team is big, talented, efficient and have depth. They don't just have 1 good player that carries the team like we typically see. They are #1 in the nation in FG%, 19th in 3pt%, 15th in rebs, 6th in assists, 4th in total pts, and 10th in ppg. They can beat you in a lot of diff ways.

I'm not saying they are a lock to reach the Final 4 or whatever, because anything can happen in the tourney. But they have as good a chance as anyone not named Kentucky to reach it IMO. And they have as good a chance as anyone to beat Kentucky. IMO, to do that you have to be a very disciplined team that does not make mistakes or give the opponent easy baskets, good on the defensive end and rebounding, extremely well coached, and you have you be able to shoot the ball efficiently as well because you just flat out can not go inside on Kentucky.

Gonzaga fits that mold. So do Wisconsin, Virginia, and Duke. I'm not sure anyone else can beat them.

That's the thing that's so tough about it. If they don't make the final 4 everyone will label them a bust, even though it is really hard to make the Final 4. People who don't think this team has an absurd amount of talent don't know basketball. Vanderbilt's leading scorer from last year is Gonzaga's 9th man. That is crazy depth.

And the kid who started at Louisville is Gonzaga's 10th man which is even crazier.

Pretty good article from Grantland on his decision to transfer and how he went about changing his body.

Yes I agree... But it depends on how far they go and who they lose to that will determine if they are a bust or not IMO.

But they are a legit team this year.

It's not that people think Gonzaga isn't good because they are, but it's more of a "we've heard this before" kind of deal about how this is the Gonzaga team that's gonna make the big breakthrough only to watch them lose very early in the tournament. I'm in the wait and see camp with them. Other people think they really are national title good, and that's fine. Just my opinion.

By the way I would give Wisconsin the best chance of beating Kentucky. They lost by 1 in the Final Four because Kaminsky played one of the worst games of his career, and they returned virtually the same roster from last year.

LSU basketball should be backing up dump trucks full of money to pull this guy down here. The basketball team desperately needs some s&c
