Galette's perceived "poor play" is directly attributable to our NT/DT situation being a flaming pile of shite this year. He was fine in his own right. He may be annoying on Twitter and a little more on the thuggish side, but it's the damn NFL, you want a mean streak in a guy going after the qb.

I'm not and idiot galette isn't worth the money. If he gets suspended or does something stupid again waste of a roster spot. For that price tag get two corners or get a playmaker on the o line. Draft a replacement and save money. If you can trade him and get something do it.

You can get a 3rd down pass rush specialist who'll give you 7-8 sacks and good corner for his money and have some left over.

what 7-8 3rd down specialist came out of the draft outside of the top 10 last year.
Pick a good corner and a 7-8 sack guy that were free agents last year that totals up to 10mil:
Here are some CBs that are worth something:
Verner: 6.625mil
DRC: 7.8mil
Cromartie: 3.25mil (1 year)
Browner: 5.83mil
Here are some DEs that are "7-8" sack guys and their numbers for last year.
Michael Johnson: 8.6mil/yr (5yr) - 4 sacks
Jared Allen: 6.0mil/yr (4yr) - 5.5 sacks
Julius Peppers: 10.0mil/yr (3yr) - 7 sacks
Chris Clemons: 4.5mil/yr (4yr) - 8 sacks
Justin Tuck: 5.0mil/yr (2yr) - 5 sacks

And I agree that his mouth and leadership leaves something to be desired, but his contract is really pretty favorable for the saints.

The Saints desperately need leadership on defense.
Byrd is the quiet type, same with Cam Jordan, Lofton and Lewis.
Vaccaro could be that, but he definitely hasn't earned it. Was horrendous last season. He has a lot of potential and that needs to come through. I do not like Galette in that leader role at all.
